the issue, and solution, i know of are to do with your sequence pre-set.

the frame rate gets applied according to that,
and that can cause sync issues.

so try changing your sequence pre-set to match the frame rate of the particular job,
THEN import your audio.

yeah, ProResLT looks ok.

you cant get quite as much out of it in a grade,
and on a big screen you could see compression,
but it is used for some forms of broadcast: news etc.

depending on your delivery specs, you can also drop the frame size down, too.
but that might come back to bite you if anyone decides ini the future they want a full HD version.

i generally drop the 2.35 mask onto a white clip,
export a frame,
then use that as a guide to make up a mask in Photoshop.

another approach is to lay 2 lots of slug onto tracks above your video, then move them into place.
still, i prefer to use the 2.35 as a guide
if you then un-enable one of the underlying clips, you can do an “Export Using Quicktime Conversion” from the that point in the timeline,
export as a still image, TIFF, and you can then use that TIFF file as a single track mask in FCP

if you are cutting in FCPX, you can set it to transcode the footage for you in the background,

so you can start working straight away.

when the transcode is done, it replaces the H64 you are working with automatically.

and i learnt something:
i never realised you could copy / paste a list of items in the finder.
still if you brought them back into FCP, you’d at least get the frame size, if that’s of interest.

right… sequences not included in batch lists… how backward is that?!

ok, here’s a workaround IF all your sequences are rendered

batch export all sequences,
video only,
NON self contained,

you’ll get a corresponding .mov for each sequence,
bring ’em all into FCP,
THEN make a batch list.

if your sequences aren’t rendered, and if you don’t need the duration as part of your database,
you could simply open each and set an in/out of one second or a few frames,
and then batch export

(Or export as a jpeg, perhaps???)

batch export has the cool advance of NOT adding a .mov, or other file-type extension to the exported files unless you ask,
so you wont have to wrangle that.

any other way i can think of requires some sort of copy / paste

is there something different about the latest batch of files?
some metadata issue?

other than that, you could use the MEDIA MANAGER to copy the files from one drive to another, creating a new project as you go.

still, it sounds like there is something fishy going on you’d want to get to the bottom of

sounds like you need to export a BATCH LIST from your browser.

you might also be able to export a batch list from the find results window,
which would make life a bit simpler,
as you could do a search across all open projects for Type contains Sequence.

obviously if you can’t export batch list from Find Results,
run the search,
copy all,
and paste into new project.

that might be the way to go as 20 projects open at one time might be asking for trouble.

you can get black frames between clips in FCP if you edit in a sequence of one frame rate,
then copy / paste into a sequence of another frame rate.

it might also happen if you try to change the frame rate on export by choosing a different setting.
