you cant change the frame-rate of sequence one it has media in it.

getting the files as small as possible is NOT the goal here,
the goal is to get the most stable, edit friendly material.so H264 may NOT be the answer. i suspect it might take longer to create, too.
for FCP Classic, ProRes is the answerthis is, by the way, the FInal Cut Pro CLASSIC forum, and you might be better of posting in the FCPX forum.
if file size is that important, then drop the frame-size down to SD,
or (again FCP classic info) use one of the Off-line RT options.nick

it is “rendering” what you see in the waveform.
there’s a setting somewhere that will turn that off, but the waveform wont “play” along with the sequence.nick

however, for free, people like JES de-interlacer.

i stand by what i said earlier.
if you want to control the de-interlace, do it within your editing app,
otherwise you cant preview your results easily.in FCP Nattress is the best.
