What are some good codec options?
I’ve been working on films with my team, and one of my editors uses final cut pro X while I use premiere pro on a windows computer. If the Final Cut editor is editing, she’ll do the whole thing and my job is to use my copy of puraleyes to sync the audio and video. Once I have the synchronizing finished, I export each clip with Quicktime H.264 with some pretty high settings and end up with files about 3x the size of the original GH3 footage. Does anyone know of any better export settings to use to reduce the file sizes and reduce the time spent waiting for files to transfer? Thanks.

H264 in my opinion is not advisable. It’s a finishing codec which means it is quite heavily compressed and is a lossy codec and difficult to edit with. As tiur

getting the files as small as possible is NOT the goal here,
the goal is to get the most stable, edit friendly material.so H264 may NOT be the answer. i suspect it might take longer to create, too.
for FCP Classic, ProRes is the answerthis is, by the way, the FInal Cut Pro CLASSIC forum, and you might be better of posting in the FCPX forum.
if file size is that important, then drop the frame-size down to SD,
or (again FCP classic info) use one of the Off-line RT options.nick
