my guess is the new clip didn’t match eh TC of the old
that’s a very easy fix: just open it in the viewer, and go to Modify > Timecode,
and enter a reel# and TC

I would have made everything match the old clip exactly but appended AUDIO FIX or similar to the name

well, if it worked that’s good.
have you checked every instance of the clip?

you could fix that, or force the re-conect,
but you’d want to know what you’re doing.

are you having sound work done on the film after the edit?

check how they are sorting in the browser.
could be they are in the wrong order there.
a simple click on the column header can do (and un-do) that.

It’s best to preserve the original frame rate when converting from the VOB files
then deal with it afterwards.
you get more control, and most likely better results.

i prefer using Mpeg Streamclip

but you’ve finished cutting, so what’s it matter?
your CC’d footage is all on one drive.

as for audio, you want to get ALL the audio dailies together in ONE PLACE.
they should remain in their daily folders, but all daily folders need to be gathered,
the sound team want ALL takes, not just what you used.

audio is small, take it all.

if you want to trim your media, then you have to ask for a new project file.
you old project files WONT connect to the new media.

Media Manager wont trim audio.

it also wont rim any clip that hasn’t got a reel#,
so if you have large exports, you may want to look at giving them reel#s.

Media Managed by FCP will ALL go into one new folder,
or one new folder per new project.
you would probably want to do some re-organising in there.
separate audio, graphics, etc

that looks like a field issue.

how are you hoping to present you piece?
if it;s on a tv, then you might be alright, although you really need to monitor as such, WHILE YOU WORK,
as you pointed out yourself.

if it;s for the web or computer screen, then you will need to de-interlace.
so do a simple quicktime export of your film using the default “current settings”
bring it back in,
p[ut it in a new timeline,
and apply a interlace filter. NATTRESS Smart de-interlace is the best.

alternatively run your export through compressor, and use the de-interlace feature in he frame controls pane.

i’ve had weird frames rates from exports in the past,
a solution has been to open the files in Cinema Tools and conform them to the correct frame rate.
