the frame rate seems a bit odd.
I’ve had luck correcting weird frame rates using cinema tools.
open the file in cinema tools, and conform the frame rate to 23.98

I’ve found PAVtube (or one of their many products) to be a LOT better with MKV files than any other app.
a lot faster for sure.

you can leave the audio as part of the video and all 6 tracks will come in,
and be in sync with the video.

i can’t speak to the hardware issues,
but FCP7 will open your FCP5 project.
once you pen them in 7, you won’t be ab le to open then in 5 again,
so for safety make copies of your project files before you open them in 7.

in Compressor, go to FIle Menu > New Batch from Template (Shift Command N)
there you will see “Create BLu-Ray”
select this, bring in your file, and then click on the small gear icon top right “Create BLu-ray disc”
then in the inspector, under “Job Action” you will get options for a very basic menu.

you can burn the disk directly from Compressor if you want, and forget abut Toast.

well the good news is that FCP and Compressor do both have options to make a Blu-Ray.
not just make the h264 that you have to then take into another app for burning, but make it to completion, in one step.

once you have chosen the Blu-Ray option, there’s a further button (Compressor) or Check box (FCP Share) “Create Blu-Ray disc”
and this is where the (very) simple menu function is hidden.

i seem to rememberer making a BluRay out of FCP that worked,
i could be wrong, i know we gave up as they were generally too troublesome for the time involved!

you do it via the Share menu.

Compressor can make simple Blu Rays, too
if it doesn’t offer you that when you open it, got to the FIle Menu > New Batch from Template.
i remember there being an option for simple menus,
but i can’t see it now in compressor,
maybe that’s only when using the FCP Share function?

1st things first, this is a bad idea
the difference in frame rates will mess with your content and to a certain extent your edits
what are you trying to achieve?

the problem you are seeing is that you are pasting to a sequence that doe not match your clips aspect ratio,
and maybe not its frame size

a simple way to do it would be to open one of your clips into the viewer,
make a new timeline,
edit the clip into it,
when it asks if you want the new sequence to match , say YES,
the delete the clip,
open the sequence’s settings, and change the frame rate to what you want.
NOW
you can copy from the one sequence into the other.

but as i said the mis-match of frame rates will not be a good thing.

FCP won’t be much good for you, i suspect,
but Soundtrack Pro has tools for fixing audio, pops, hums etc.
