i have to admit, your workflow is still not very clear.
seems like you might be trying to do things the way you would in an avid.
without remembering much of how FCP works
it could lead to problems.
subclips can sometimes, especially in multiclips

ok there is GOOD NEWS.

all you have to do is export your ng sequences as an XML.

then re-import that same XML.
in the dialogue window that comes up you can set a new sequence setting.
UN-CHECK the box “over-ride with settings from XML”

the sequences will have been changed.
this will NOT change the existing frame-rate.

speaking of right tool for the job,
if you want to change a batch of sequences in one go you could do that via XML.

HOW you do that, i’m not sure.
the XML app “traffic” might be able to do it, i don’t know.

if you are good with coding you might be able to do it yourself.
the XML document is really just a text document, and you could program a text editing app to replace “DVCPRO HD with “Pro Res” and one frame-size for another.

again, a bit of testing will be required.

i know in the other thread the issue of frame rate came up.

so as you know you wont be able to match the frame rate if you just change the sequence settings.
are you ok to go with the old frame rate?

quickeys, like any macro app just performs a string of user defined functions.
they can be keystrokes, or mouse moves & clicks etc, etc.

for this you’d have one sequence selected in the browser,
program a key command to open it;s settings window (Command Zero),
then mouse moves to change the sequence settings.
a key command to confirm the settings (enter or return)
then down arrow to move to the next sequence in the browser

as mentioned in the other thread it could be simpler to copy paste into new sequences.
that could be done with keystrokes only.

you can program in repeats

the Macros in my experience do take time to program.
a fair bit of trail and practice and testing is involved.
especially with keyboard commands.
the trick is adding pauses to stop QuicKeys getting ahead of FCP.
so maybe recording mouse moves is better for you.

as i said, there are other cheaper apps that do the same thing.

for a while back there, i was cutting music videos on an Abekas system.
might have been a 51, i don’t know!
sorry, i’m an off-line editor, and driving that thing felt like driving a tank!

but it was in the back room of a place we used to work out of, and they left us alone in there to do what ever we wanted.
this was ’96 or thereabouts, and the rest of the place had moved onto Avids.

you can use Macros in FCP, but you cant create them there.
i use QuicKeys. there are other apps.

but i suspect there is a better way to do what you want.
and i’m still a bit unclear on what that is as there is no modify>compress video command.

do you want to export a bunch of timelines to a different format?
you can use Batch Export for that pretty easily.

in batch export you can either export as a QuickTime move, and chose one of the many sequence pre-sets,
or you can Export with QuickTime Conversion.

or you can use the Export > “Share” function to use a compressor pre-set.

i think i’ve gotten the yellow “Proxy” render line if i have the canvas set to white or checkerboard bg.

but that would also imply that there is some scaling or motion effect being applied to your clip as you add it to the timeline.

if you want to go with Reel# as an identifier,
then CGM have a Reel & TC plugin.
BUT i think that’ll cost more, as its part of a bundle.

also 1z1 have a similar plugin, but boy are the results ugly.
