Firstly what is the frame rate of your footage…? unless you shot at a massive frame rate it won’t work.
Lets say it is 30 frames per second and you have 30 seconds of footage so 30 x 30 equals 900 frames of total footage and you want to make it last 10 minutes.
10 minutes equals 600 seconds
900 frames divided by 600 seconds equals 1.5 frames per second… that’s not just jerky… it’s not video… but the reason you are limited in stretching the clip and it’s really ‘jerky’ is because the more you stretch the less frames of footage are in every second and so when it’s played back at normal framerate Vegas has to fill in the gaps with nothing so Vegas gets to a maximum point and says ‘sorry that’s as far as I’m prepared to go to try and make something that resembles a video out of this’
it’s simply not doable…. why not go down to your local church and film for another 9.5 minutes… job done…?

No … my bad Russ… apologies…
I was trying to do far too much at the same time and for some reason I got your reply to that thread mixed up in my head with another question and completely missed that you’d given me the instructions. Moral of the story… always go back and read through the question as well as the answer when you have multiple threads open… DOH !!!
Sorry… but thanks for your perseverance and yes that is all works perfectly as indeed it should.
Cheers

My new machine has 16 and will soon enough have 32… it’s my old one that this pagefile is seemingly an issue when i disable it and try to render in SVP…. do you think 8gb would solve it..?

Good point Dave…. However….It surely wouldn’t be difficult to have the choice to turn off personal messaging if you’d rather not have it…. Choice equals control and I like being in control.

Russ…. thanks for the reply but I’m not totally sure I quite understand your info.
As I see it…. my .veg project file contains all the link info to where the video is stored… however I imported all the video for this project to my desktop (C: drive) thinking access will be much faster than via my old school USB 2.0 which this old machine has.
So… my desktop path to files also includes my user name which is what windows does by default…. so unless I can replicate that pathway on my new machine the veg file can’t locate all the clips.
Is there a way to easily move my current project files over to en external USB 3.0 SSD then open my project and have it re-write all the pathways to a new veg file so I can then plug in to the new machine ensuring it has the same drive letter….?

In terms of quality that your eye can distinguish are you able to say that the handbrake method which you use produces this kind of result…?
I always like the idea of seeking out ‘ultimate’ and I have a habit of jumping in at the deep end, sometimes I find I have to make my way back to shallower waters so I can stand up, but I do like setting the bar high when challenges come along and I’m still very much a newbie with understanding the various in depth ways in which video can be manipulated inside NLE’s.
So of course when anyone suggests that an end result can be bettered and the quality and speed can be increased my radar picks up on it. I’m going to try and work with Norman on here to understand how he frameserves to ffmpeg but first off this seems like a good way to certainly try out Satish’s frameserver and ensure it runs on my machine happily. I will certainly try out the set-up for this one click encoding method via Handbrake using the very same debumode frameserver. More choice is always good.
Hope you’ll jump in and try out learning some scripting which using Norman’s method will take.
cheers

I thought my 6gb of memory on this old machine woulda been enough…. apparently not… I’m sure I read in the optimisation guide that I could move it to a Hard disk…? but I need to understand exactly what removing (or moving) the pagefile from the SSD will do for it. The guide doesn’t go into full explanation of exactly what benefit you get cos it was one of several tweaks that all together make for an optimised SSD… so I need to do some research.

Kell…. Abe Kislevitz does a great Blog on GoPro settings…. he’s officially employed by GoPro to review and I think I read somewhere he has a post grad degree in photographics so sometimes he uses language you may need to look up but he knows the cameras inside out.

Also I have one of these Ribcage Gopro lens mount mod kits on order. This mod kit allows you to use any c or cs mount lens and really open up your gopro to get rid of fisheye distortion altogether. Not expensive especially if you do the mod yourself.
cheers

Rick…. this gives you a pretty good explanation of Bit Rate and ‘Videomaker’ has a whole series on youtube of stuff like this.

Ah…. you found the question without a separate post…. brilliant.
That script is currently going over my head but I’d like to change that and I’ve sent you an email with a plan to hopefully get the ball rolling on here for the benefit of anyone else interested.
