May 16, 2011 at 10:53 am in reply to: FCP not rendering out smoothcam filter…

    Hello

I’m getting the same problem. All original files were transcoded to Apple Pro Res and smooth cam seems fine in the edit when played through FCP. Although when rendering the whole project to one big pro res self-contained movie the smooth cam footage is all jittery and juddery… I want to render out the 30 minute video for upload to Youtube in 1080.

    Any advice?

I tired rendering just the smooth cam bit as one file in the current settings (pro resLT) and it’s still juddering.

    How can I fix this?

    Thanks!!

  • Hello

I am editing with a prores LT sequence. There is only one working gfx card in the machine. I have switched to 32 bit. It still judders and crashes…

    Any help?

  • Ok. So clean editing has been ok so far and using Soundtrack Pro. However, I just installed Magic Bullet Denoiser and it crash FCP immediately. I had already informed Red Giant yesterday about MB looks crashing system and they sent instructions to change permissions, which I have just done. I’m not going to install denoiser until red giant advise. I have sent them the full crash report. This is the top of the crash report. What do you think? Also do you think I should run my system as 32 bit and not 64 bit as someone else has suggested? Thanks.

  • Thanks for your input guys…

    This is how I’ve proceeded…

I had 2 x Radeon HD 5770 cards in slots 1 & 2. I removed 1 card from slot 2 and rebooted. Even before opening final cut the left monitor display was juddering and displaying random dots. I removed that card from slot 1 and placed the card I removed previously in slot 1. Displays seem stable. I have opened Final Cut and scrubbed through my project with no side effects as yet, although I haven’t performed any new renders/filters/etc… I’m going to edit as normal this afternoon and add filters etc. I pray that it stays stable and that’s the end of it.

  • Oh no… It seemed ok for a some short edits, but now I’m heavily using effects in Final Cut and MBL Looks, it’s starting to judder again…. 🙁

Someone must have fixed this by now??? Any news?

  • Hello

I just spoke to Apple and they think it’s because I had two Radeon cards in my machine with a monitor (x2) in each card. Apparently, the new Mac Pro with final cut can’t use two cards together, so I’ve plugged both monitors in one card. I did a quick test and it seems ok. But I’m going to play around with it more now and put it through some rendering, editing tests… Hope it’s ok… :-.

  • Thank you so much for replying.

I have thought about this a lot since last night. Yes, I installed Red Giant Magic Bullet Looks and Noise Industries FX Factory yesterday. The system did seem fine before that, but I had only done straight cuts of the footage and not any complex edits… After installing plug-ins and heavy editing, constant crashes and errors…

I don’t want to uninstall any plug-ins as I need them for my work….

    Please advise

    Thanks!!

  • Hello

I did a google search and this thread came up. I am having similar problems. I received a new 12 core Mac Pro with 16GB ram last week. I am editing a project in FCP 7.03. The footage was shot on a Canon XF305 (MXF) and I’m using calibrated software codec to re-wrap the files and use in FCP. However, I’m getting all the symptoms that are listed here. The footage judders when I edit footage 24-style, split-screen etc… It seemed to be ok before I did that… But now I’m getting loads of crashes, out of memory notices, bad codec and the dreaded judder on any footage, even a simple color matte!

This is really unacceptable…. Has anyone found a fix for this yet?? I have loads of deadlines to meet… Before I bought the Mac I was using a hired quad core mac and everything seemed fine. It was the same MXF files with the same calibrated software re-wrap.

    Please someone help!! 🙁
