Smoothcam preview OK but not render
I’ve seen many posts on this – but not a solution as yet.
I’m using smoothcam on a short clip, it works fine in preview after the analysis has been done (ie with a green line above the clip in the timeline) but as soon as I render it goes back into shaky mode. Not as shaky as the original file, but not nearly as super smooth as the preview. I’m working in a HD ProRes timeline with HD ProRes clips upper field interlaced 50i. FCP7.
Tried dropping a field to emulate the preview mode, but this doesn’t work.
A workaround would be to export the file in preview mode (without rendering) and re-import – but assume this is not logically possible?

It’s a 7.03 bug for interlaced footage.
Progressive footage doesn’t have this problem.Use Motion instead.

Try adding the Shift Fields filter in FCP (Effects > Video Filters > Video > Shift Fields)

Export the clip from FCP (right click then ‘send to’ ‘Motion’)
In Motion choose Behaviours / Motion Tracking / Stabilise – apply
In HUD change Method to smooth
change Borders to zoom
change adjust to select Position scale and rotationAnalyze and Save
Go to FCP and render – I had fantastic results.
