October 7, 2008 at 1:11 am in reply to: downconvert to .wav or .au 8KHz mono?

Actually I found the format in AA as an ACM (.wav) format with a drop down menu with a telephone option. I am going to save as, 8KHz, 16 Bit Mono. I am not sure what this is going to sound like, but I guess I can send it out again.

That is what directions were emailed to me. I thought 22Khz was the lowest. That is what is confusing me.

September 3, 2008 at 2:06 pm in reply to: Wind

Someone please correct me on this, but I have found that once you have wind noise there isn’t much you can do about it. I take every precaution to not shoot in windy situations or I use dead cats or try to hide mics under clothing.

usually I just dump the clip. If the wind is in the background and isn’t too severe, you may be able to cover it with a music bed, but again, I throw the audio out unless I am shooting news or it is live and there is nothing I can do about it.

Sorry about that, but since I have been in the biz, there is no good post solution for wind

i had to add something. It is funny, but did you see the serious magic website’s demo before adobe bought them? they were hitting the talent with 2 600w softboxes and claiming to pull a key. I was very skeptical.

first thought was to hit the talent with three lights. I may get away with a couple of 150w’s on each side then a hairlight at maybe 50-75w.

I probably will scrap the shop light on the screen. There will be too much spill. I guess I will do more flourecents on the screen, maybe even use some ND paper to reduce them a stop and see what happens.

Anyway, if I get something good, I will make a post on youtube.

    Cool.

Thanks. I haev someone that wants to do a project and is insistant on using fourescent. I said go with Kino, but price is not an option. I may just use the 6500K.

Now I have never tried this with flourecents, but they want to light the subject and a green screen. This will be in a small space (20ft)so I will get spill on my subject. I have 4 chinese lanterns and thought I would put 150w in them and try to use a tube (shop) light on the screen, while trying to control the spill with flags. Or just put the screw ins inside clamp on lights with tin foil reflectors. Anyway, I want to go with tungsten, but this guy is excentric.

If I don’t get a reply I understand. This is going to be a challenge.

July 18, 2008 at 7:26 pm in reply to: Are PP CS3 and FCP 6 talking?

So far I have been able to bring complete projects from a WIN platform over to MAC. Any older versions of premier have to be saved as CS3 before it can be opened by CS3 on the other OS. Don’t get rid of the windows box too quickly. There is a major bug while capturing. I am using a dual quad core MAC. There are either dropped frames or drift while capturing from a deck on the MAC version. Adobe says they are working on a patch, but it has been a month. It is a pain in the A**. Capture on the win os and move the whole folder over to MAC then start to edit.

Also, if you have files scattered around on differnt drives you are going to have to go back and forth across a network to re link them.

    Sorry I can’t answer the CS3 – FCP6 part of the question. I have FCP5, but haven’t tied to open a project.
