Umm yes compressor, los of options, and trying them all .all of the presets could take days.

I just tried the Export to file from FCP X and h264 and smallest size, still ends up with a 4gb file.

As i said, it is not really for strain g, so i suppose the size for upload not that relevant, but either way.1Gb or more is a bit much

Yes I never use DVD myself, but still many people ask of them.

OK, I an=m new FCP X. what output menu option would i use to get that? Just direct “Export File” or one of the presets ?

I had the same issue too

I took to just using the blade tool to chop that portion and do just that section that way.

Also did the other way, in an external app then re import just the clean audio to a separate track.

I Opend the original movie clip in Amadeus pro, as tha tis what I happened to have at hand, saved the audio as a wav file, then used …Vinyl Studio ..as that is also an app I happened to have that is good a hum removal, then re imported the saved clip.

Much better apps and ways to do it . but not as easy as within FCP X

If you are in to a bit of tinkering I’d go over to TonyMacx86.com and look at ‘doing’ a hacintosh laptop.

Something like a HP4530s ProBook core i7, can take either 8 or 16 gb ram…I think HP themselves recommend 8gb Max, but OSX and the hardware supports 16 GB.

The good thing about doing a HP4530 sereis, or very very similar is that all the hardware is so close ( almost identical internally) to a MacBook Pro, that there is very little ..like no , real ‘coign involved.

I have done a 4530s Core i5, last year..Geekbench and similar bench test apps put it up at a better speed than a late 2013 MacBook Pro 15 inch, all for about £500

That £500 included purchasing a second hand laptop on flea bay, an SSD the new RAM and a HDD caddy to fit in place of the DVD drive.

So it has 8GB RAM..I only heard about the 16GB option later
500GB SSD, for boot
and a ?? 1TB I think , in the DVD bay HDD caddy.

if you are on a budget this is the way to go.

Installation very easy
Buy a 32 -64GB USB stick
On home Mac, go to the app store and d/load the latest OS X installation bundle
From Tony mac downlo ad the installer app.
Run the installer app and point it to the OSX Instl package.
Follow on screen and tonymacx86 guide

Download the post installation instal app that configures OSX to run on that hardware.

Use like a real Mac for a third of the price.

You can do other laptops, but it seems that the most work has been down for the ProBook,and it all just works with the supplied tools on the forum. Other laptops are possible I believe, but not as easy from what I gather. I amino expert , but I have down mine twice. I did it the second time because I water to upgrade to Yosemite, so it si easier to just dart afresh with a new boot loader than trying to convert/ upgrade.

Different financial situation to when I bought it

Currently running a 1GB 4870 and a a 512mb 8800

I’d buy any chuck outs any ones has if they are better than my current cards. ..I’ll buy them of course

I have just gone through and adjusted audio for the iffy clip and re exported as a Master file.

it plays perfectly in the timeline, but soon as exported as the project is exported as a Master file that very clip still has out of sync audio.

Here it gets weird.
I ceased a new project timeline and added just that Compound clip into it.
On first play in the timeline, the audio was out of sync.

Even before the render completes, swapping in to the other project and back to that new one..the audio comes back in sync

trying to export just the problem sub clip now sorry Compound clip in a New Untitled Project and the new export still has the same issue. the first clip is out of sync .

but only in the exported Master File. In the timeline it is correct.

Well not totally true, finally got around to replacing an exhaust manifold on a tractor on the farm I’ve been welding up for many years. The invoice in the parts box shows I bought the new part…18 years ago! Too many jobs not enough time ! life eh?

I’ve always looked at TV programs, adverts films etc and thought…ugg, that was ‘messy’, or ah that was a nice ‘ cut’but I never really thought about it before in video edit terms.

Still have about 15 hours of DV cam footage i shot while living in Uganda and the Congo . Not the usual african safari, wildlife stuff either…the north and west of Uganda has some…errr interesting photo opportunities, if you can shoot without being seen, well you had to shoot without being seen or you would likely be …shot yourself..but not with a camera

Yes, well, maybe, but I still have a feeling it is me, missing something obvious..

All clip properties are the same

I’ve got a close bough match for now. For the job in hand, no one is going to even notice or care really . It is just me being a perfectionist.

I have spent 2 days on and off matching those two clips, getting fade correct and finding two clasp that I can splice together, so the audio from one night matches the mouth movements from the second night . The video fades first, withe second nights video coming in over the top, while the audio from the first night continues, with the mouth moments syncronied with the there nights audio. Not easy when the cast are amateurs, with no sense of timing and the cameraman/ mixing deesk driver ( me) and the editor (also me) have no idea of video editing, and this is the first time with FCP X and not he second time with video editing. The last time was this very same show last year.
If I had just give them a straight DVD of the video as shot, they’d have been happy , but no, I had to go in and try and do a better job!

When I choose Match, and then use the Choose option to select the complete track from the upper left in the earlier screen grab, it does produce a curve, so the basice matching procedure seems to work. Just that the first clip has a section a the start ith audience cheering . clapping etc. So I wanted to choose just a portion.

I suppose a ‘work around ‘ is to Blade ‘ the section I want an create a separate clip and just then select that…but …well I guess you know what I mean..it is a work around , rather than getting the software to work as it is supposed to.

My understanding is that you can Learn’ a section for the template, I guess with the R mark drag tool, or playing with the playhead. so I’d hope I could work out how to do it.
