What was the video shot on ?
IE: if your images and or video was shot on a device with a different
aspect ratio then you may get black bars or borders
try this…
click the pan/crop button on the event
then right click on the image…
choose…”match output aspect”

Its the photo with a 8mp camera thats a crusher is what I was getting at.

there is also a numeric value that you can punch in.
so….put image off left and remember the the vertical number.
then move image off right then plug the same number into the vertical field.
now the image will travel but stay on the same vert plane.

Photoshop image size question.
make your images in P.S. smaller than 720×480.
If it is text that will be roughly 1/3 the size of the screen then make the image roughly 1/3 the size of 720×480.
this allows a close ratio of 1 to 1. zoom out a little to make it fit better. better to be a little big and shrink it a hair in pan/crop then to zoom in if its too small.

Vegas has a hard time with large images
1) it chokes the re-draw, may crash if there are to many.
2) images and text tend to flicker if the resolution is too high.
I do ads for car dealerships, they are always sending me hi-res logos that were made for print. They will flicker regardless of usual anti-flicker settings if I dont put them in photoshop and down-res them first.

TV stations take DV tapes. I send them those and never a complaint.
Make them convert it the way they want it.
I’ve dealt with Adelphia, Comcast as well as a handfull of smaller more local stations..
never a problem
Mac can handle an AVI ntsc DV so save it to that as well.
BTW I never get a good result with the .MOVformat from vegas either.

sorry I was gone for a few days…

The “K” key is only a pause/stop action.
“J” is rewind…”K” is pause/stop….and “L” is play. tap it again and its fast forward. (this is a popular shortcut with many editors)
“enter” does the same thing
If you hit the space bar it is a stop …but resets to the previous starting point. experiment …you’ll see

Did the rest make sense ??
I tested it before I responded to you before and it does work….and it is a very fast procedure once you get going.

I have done one of those projects before…here’s what I did.
You’ll love this !!!! Creative use of subclips !!

1) put the power point in the trimmer. then play
2) everytime there is a slide that must “hold”..hit the “K” key.(pause)
then hit the “m” key to place a marker. (this puts a marker with a succesive number on it starting with #1.

3) Highlight a small 2 second area of the slide. Click the “create subclip” button. (In the Upper right area of the trimmer window).This will make a subclip and place it in the media pool with a #1 subclip
4)continue this till the end.
5) now highlight the entire clip in the trimmer and drag it onto the
main timeline. (Notice that the markers will stay attached to the event file).

6)Now you have quick referance markers to put all of the subclips onto.

7) On the timeline…go to 1st marker(orange line), place curser on the first frame of slide, split “S” key.(Splits the event)

8) slide the “right half” of the event over to the right to make room for subclip 1.

9)got to media pool tab and find subclip 1, drag it into position.
then pull the end of it out and notice that it just loops that 2 second subclip as long as you want. right !!!
Record you voice-over then drag/extend to match the length.

10) pull the rest of the event back into place then goto the next marker and repeat process.

It looks complicated but I assure you it is a simple quick process and doesnt create any new files. only a loopable referance to a clip that already exists.

Here’s the deal…..
I do this all the time.

Hold the CTRL (control) button while you click on all the events you want as a group.
Think of CTRL key as a “AND” key.
IE: This…AND…this…AND….That….. will be (G) grouped
You can now move the groups around freely.

Think of SHIFT key as a “THRU” key.
This event….THRU…this event will be grouped.

CTRL+A is obviously every damn thing on the plate.

All are equally powerful …just use the right tool for the job is all

If you want to make a small adjustment to a “Group”.
Use the “Ignore event grouping” (CTRL+SHIFT+U) button on the menu bar to temporarily release all grouping. Make adjustment then uncheck button.. and your good to go again.
PS: if that button isnt there..go to OPTIONS/CUSTOMIZE TOOLBAR
and find it, place it.
