    Nigel

I have but its a standard looking quicktime, its 7.7 I think, and I dont use it to play anything ever.

Good idea, and that would be the best solution but the tapes are gone!

    Thanks for your help

    Larry,

I have all the files on my had drive now.

The files were put onto a DVD disc; a data disc. They have the extension .mov so I have a feeling they are Apple Pro Res files, and not compatible with Windows. Some of the files wont play audio properly.

I only know that they were captured using an Apple G5.

    Im running Vegas Pro 12

I actually just got a file converted to Mpeg2 using PavTube. Is this reccomended to keep the quality

Thanks for support here, much appreciated

    Thanks Larry

I did, no difference. Strangely enough the small short clips will play, but Im not too impressed with the quality, a little choppy in places. The file extension reads .mov but the the big 3.5gb clip wont open at all or go into a convertor

Thanks very much John; I’ve taken all your points on board there, and Ill be checking out the XD CAM Explorer.

Yep, really happy with this software, and the add-on’s…
Also really impressed with the amount of help out there on Sony Vegas

I’ve also fiddled with FCP to no avail. I used this camera a few moons ago and there was no problem. Its also a rental and maybe the port on it is jacked

    Hey John,

I just read about your experience with the Z5. I was wondering what happened or how did you solve this… I am having the exact same problem as you have described, and I have a load of editing to do! Please let me know how you managed to sort this.

Also, I’ve tested my ports on my g5 with other hardware
(an external drive and an analogue to dv convertor) and they get detected in the finder. Also, when I plug in the Z5 I get a low sharp sound from the port… Thinking of using a regular mini-dv camera to test it.

    Please let me know,

    Thanks
    Neil Hynes
