File Management – Editing a Large Project

You can do it either way. Vegas Pro allows you to rename them after they are in the project media pool but some people like to rename them before they start. It’s really a personal choice as it’s about the same work either way so it depends of what you are comfortable with.

[Neil Hynes] “Also all my XDCAM clips are in individual folders; how can I grab them all and extract them to one folder rather than have to pull and drag every one of them to a location.”

You should use the View | XDCAM Explorer (Ctrl+Alt+5) to manage your XDCAM footage.

I like to copy all of my media under one project folder. This way I only have one folder to backup and archive when I’m done. I also like to save my project under different names at various parts of editing (e.g., rough cut, finish editing, before grading, etc.) so that I can go back if something catastrophic happens.
