“Yea, we recently went from ppro 2017 to 2018. It almost brought the whole building down. AE’s couldnt get reliable AAF’s out to the mixers.
Would be nice to have blazing fast new computers but at the end of the day we’re doing offline editing with low res media and dont really need the extra juice.

Not in my experience – I work at rather large A/V agency and we are on 2010 cheesegraters..time’s probably 50 or so. No plans on ugrading according to IT.
Lot of other places still on cheesegraters and back when i was at NBC we were on 10 year old hps.
Seems like the smaller boutique places stay more up to date – most places have Imacs now.

at that point for a little more money you could have an imac, with a nice screen.
By the time you RAM those things up its like 2500+ depending on the storage. Then the price of the egpu.

dont really get the name change tbh. Seems like what we have is appropriate for the discussion at hand.
Does this mean that we cant compare FCPX to other NLE’s anymore or is the name change just a name and out topics can stay the same?
Also for a forum about to be named apple talk – not on post yet about new Mac Mini’s, Air’s etc today?
Maybe we dont need a forum at all.

what Im finding funny is that for the last 7 years, users of X have been aggressively trying to get the general public to look at it as more than a beginners and youtube program.
Now their comparing it to an app clearly aimed at beginners and saying, look they copied us. Cant win. ????

And what he says is also correct that iMovie/FCPX has had this for a while? Groundbreaking from Adobe? You decide.
“No one is saying he isnt corrct – just super childlike in his immediate reaction to try and call out Adobe for trying to mingle in that market. Thats all.
Also calling out a feature like backward compatibility or forward capatibility or whatever you call this. Any app new app is going to have this.
So again, no one saying his statements arent somewhat correct – just the message behind them – is getting super old. My 2 cents.

Yea thats cool, whatever gets your motor humming. Just trying to put it out there that “fast” is relative to the user. While you may consider things like scrubbing footage with the least dropped frames and which NLE does it better, this is something thats never even crossed my mind.
