Yea im not sure because i just recently started using MC 5.5 at home full time again (always used it at work, and FCP at home) and in my magic bullit 1.0 installer, the Avid is an option to install. May have changed in 2.0, i just only really use the flicker and dust fx so i never felt the need to upgrade it.

Magic Bullit Looks 1 works perfectly as advertised in MC 5.5… i use it everyday .
i think both of the support websites might say otherwise, but it definately works. Im on a Mac 10.6.8 and all is well.

great look and concept, i just dont feel like the music necessarily “drives ” the piece. Just a little constructive criticism if your looking for it.

i just dont know so many people are willing to jump thru all these hoops when theres plenty of stuff on the market that does what we want today, and does it well. It was 299, suffer your losses and move on.
I can only imagine telling my audio guy, that everything out of sync, but dont worry, its jsut a little bit. lol. Not too mention, if you have to use Adobe to do it, why nort just do it in Adobe to begin with ?

Avids keyframe/fx tweaking definately leaves something to be desired, but AvidFx (Boris Red) is really really powerfull and more sophisticated than FCp ever was, but the curve is really steep and theres not a ton of stuff on the net offering other than the simplest of direction. Dig deep, tho and it turns out to be really really cool.
The other thing i dont like about Avid is the Color Correction, mostly i havent figured out a way to get the scopes in there own detachable windows and the scopes dont update realtime either. Kind of bugs a little bit when doing pre grading and the like.
As far as it being an Editor, hands down for me the most stable, and intuitive NLE.
I can see Premiere being the next “logical” step from FCP classic but i dont know. Im still not sold, and still have yet to hear any buzz about in Los Angeles. That said, im pretty confident, that i could jump on w/o much training and get er done so im not worried about learning it YET. We’ll see what the future holds.

its looks like to me, in the fcp-x one , all your audio went out of sync ? The dialouge, and fx tracks are now with a differrent clip? Surely thats not what you wanted ?

id say the biggest “con” is teaching something to kids, that might not help them at all in the real world. Its too early to tell if the industry will adopt it.

Can we edit with it? Sure. i have, i did, it worked, and if i HAD to i could do it again, but until every other viable NLE switches to a locked ripple, than i have the choice to work with the other ones, most of which are industry staples and arent going anywhere, maybe forever. Most editors i meet are so stuck in the ways. Is that good, maybe not butif the current traditions work today, theyll work tommorow too. Sure, they all need imporvements but ive never heard anyone complain about a standard 2 Window Source and Record/Tracked Timeline NLE.
If you love grow to love the magnetic timeline, more power to you, Master it and do what you do, ill stick with what i know works best for me.
