you can always use the smart tool, the red arrow will give you the behavior your looking for. Or by default i think its mapped to shift “A”, then just click hold and drag wherever, holding down command to snap in place if you want it to.
alternatively you can press “T” to select a clip or set in and outs around multiple clips and hit “+” or “-” and however many frames/seconds numerically you want to move the clip(s). This will effect whatever tracks are active on the side panel.

your probably right, i dont check everyones credentials that post on the cow, but like i said, i have and im sure many others have edited and completed projects on much lesser machines, so im just wondering whats making his IMAC not live up to its capabilities.

also what kind of drives are hooked up? If there single drive FW 800 drives, thats probably a root of the problem too. From FW although not safe, raid 0 will speed things up. If you can afford it go thunderbolt with the pegasus or lacies.

curious as what your trying to do with the IMAC 27inch top of the liner?
For video needs 1080i/p etc this should be a solid workhorse.
If your doing color in davinci than probably not or intense AE stuff/3D.
Ive been using mine with AVID 5.5 and 6.01, FCP Legacy, and AE 5.5 and its been pretty fricken smooth..Mostly 108024p, 1080i60 Prores and XDcam 422, all is well. Much smoother than my 8 core Mac Pro from 2009 with the same software. Even Davinci is useable although not realtime. Sounds like you have some OS issues or something.

The scopes are definitely there.. gotta right click to bring em up. floating windows, as many as you want. That said, software scopes are not that reliable and if going to broadcast i’d peep em out on real hardware scopes before delivery.

I hear you man, but in that case, just export as RGB like i said, and all your “grayish” blacks should indeed be black. Export, check it out in quicktime, or upload a small clip to vimeo to test.

The black is still black, it just doesn’t look like that on your computer screen, a properly calibrated external monitor should display the right contrast, and if its output for web, export as RGB.

i pop up in here, just like Shane, to see what and if people are doing with it. I havent seen anything really that was advertised as being cut with X other then some web videos. There were slickly cut, well produced, etc, but im more interested in tv/film workflow’s than with montages and music videos.
that said, i do hope it matures into something great. I have 10.03 0n my system and poke at it every once in a while but until i see the pro markets out here shift in that direction, im not gonna dive in to deep. Ever since the Media Composer 6.01 update, i really havent wanted or felt the need to use anything else. Even doing basic AE stuff into Avid FX because it works good.
