Automatic Duck is great if you want to transfer your timeline into AE and finish it there. Is there a way to go back to MC after? Ive never had to go back and only used it as a last step, so i ve never tried.
That said, you can do some of the same type of stuff in Avid Fx, which is basically Boris Red. Not nearly as elegant or robust as AE is but i can handle most basic comp stuff and titles, andAvid Fx comes with MC and works like a plug in within.

The Imac will be fine, you just will need fast storage to use 4444. Thunderbolt is probably the way to go.

i think she wants to take out the filler at the end, not add it, in which case one way to do it is add an edit across all the tracks then extract it out.

by match frame i mean the ability to have a freeze frame in a reference monitor or on the source side, so when dealing with continuity, you can better line things up.

theres alot things for me that make it uncool. No 3 point editing into anything other than the primary = lame.
The slip and slide functionality is broken. No match frame in the traditional sense of the word. Audio is a mess. Too much mouseing around, not too keyboard friendly.
Ive tried to use it, i did some interviews stuff with a music bed and broll.. worked great for that minus the sluggishness,beachballs, etc.. I really couldn’t imagine cutting narrative stuff on it tho. The match frame thing for me is a killer, and coming from a background in Avid, i still find 3 point editing to be my fastest way of getting stuff down.

is it possible your on 10.7.3? If so its currently unsupported in MC 6 and might be whats causing the problem.

On 10.6.8 i have the same laggy trimming and scrubbing, mostly with the caps lock key on. This is with the deckling extreme HD 2.
At home on 10.7.2 everything is pretty smooth and snappy with the intensity extreme. It works just as smooth as my nitris at work with MC 4.
Seems like those drivers are geared more for lion now.

if your talking about in the source monitor, then you need to press toggle source/record button.
Theres a ton of free tutorials that will get you up to speed in MC..i suggest checking them out or at least reading the documentation that comes with Avid.
