Thanks Mike for your reply. Do you happen to know if the EDL features you mentioned for Avid are available in the Avid xpress Pro version? I’m about ready to go out and buy it.

Thanks so much for this suggestion. It actually seems to work. The only thing is I have to modify the TC in FCP then go into Cinema Tools and modify it again. But it seems to work! What a relief!

That sounds like a really good idea. How would I go about doing that?

Thanks for your moral support! I’m in West LA if you’re interested in coming over and having a look. The post house is in Vancouver.
My problem remains getting the 3rd TC from the HD sources into my work flow. I noticed in FCP in the “Modify” menu there is an Timecode option, and in there you can add auxillary timecode. I’ve tried that, but you don’t seem to be able to generate an EDL with the aux TC – not sure why that would be….

The post house actually said I could make a “paper list EDL” when I’m finished editing, by reading the visual TC burn in… I was trying to avoid that, but at this point it seems like the only viable option.

I apprieciate all your help. You’e right, the producers have done numerous movies with the same post facility. It’s going to be hard if not impossible to turn the boat around at this point. All I really want is to edit offline and provide and EDL back to the HD tapes….

The original tapes from the sony f900 are DVCPRO HD are they not? How do I get material into FCP with a DVCAM deck?
Re: page 45 vol ll… If the post facilty is syncing up dailies why should I?

I was planning to edit in 23.98 timeline. The production company is making an SD tape (because they’re “saving money”) with circled takes and syncing the audio from the original DATS. I need to provide an AUDIO EDL. Also I don’t own a DVCPRO – HD deck. I only have a DV deck. I need to provide an EDL that reflects the TC on the original camera tapes.

    Thanks for the input.
Am I to capture from the orignal camera tapes? I don’t have a DVCPRO HD deck.
How do you handle the double system audio?
