  • Yes, and that’s what AJA just told me on the phone. However, FCP X is already running on the same drive as FCP 7, CS 5.5 and MC 6.

They really weren’t certain whether the 10.2 driver would kill FCP 7 and CS5.5 but it probably would break MC6.

I’m tempted to test it anyway since the worst thing that could happen would be having to reinstall the last version.

  • Now, a dumb question– Is this only for FCP X? Will I lose functionality with FCP 7, CS5.5 and MC6?

    Thanks, John.

    That actually did it!

The case here was the MacPro misidentifying the Quadro 4000 card. Dwaine helped narrow this down, and I appreciate the time he took considering this is a free app!

So with that debug fix, no errors reported and no crashing.

    Isn’t the internet wonderful?

Just tested with Matrox MXO2 /LM1760W combination. I as well cannot get MXO2 to pump out timecode. Will run this by my Matrox contacts.

BTW, just got my LM-1760W yesterday and it produces amazing images. Looking now at a shot I did day before yesterday atop the Pallisades overlooking the Hudson and am asking myself “Did I shoot that?”

I as well have been using MXO2 since day one and have also used and reviewed AJA IoHD. I do not have any direct experience with Motu. But I do want to say that Matrox in my experience has been tremendously responsive to tech questions and has positioned MXO2 as a different product from IoHD. I’m certainly not detracting from any product; I’m merely reporting my positive experiences with Matrox.

And, in response to yet another post in the thread– Ban Gary Adcock? Quiet, mild-mannered, un-opinionated, product-neutral Gary?

Order it and tell us if you actually get a camera for this price. How many times on every board do we have to go through the discussion of the Brooklyn camera dealers????

    HI, Michael!

I have a DVRig Pro and wrote a review of it some time ago that you can find on lafcpug.org and kenstone.net (of course, not to detract from this terrific site).

I really like this product with the HVX. What I really find great about it is the ability to do lots of fine tuning with camera and back counterweight position to achieve a good balance. The belt and spring-pod provide more stability. It is not a steadicam and it is not even marketed as such. But with good balance and “steadicam steps”, it is possible to get a very stable shot.

There is a new product that I tested this summer and will also get in November (the entire inventory was sold out at IBC and they are frantically producing more) is the DVMultiRig. This is a much more portable version and is the most versatile piece of gear I’ve seen. Check out the site at http://www.dvtec.tv

On the DVMultiRig pages, you might recognize a familiar looking model. I say might because I’m close to 100 pounds lighter since the last time you saw me in LA.

By the way, I’m not on the payroll– just one who has reviewed the first product and who will be writing about the MultiRig in another article. Feel free to contact me via PM or off-line if you want more info.

Also consider Matrox MXO if you don’t need the capture card functions of a Kona or Decklink.

  • You must uncheck remove duplicate frames for the FRC to work. So, import those clips shot VFR with remove duplicate frames unchecked (and in FCP 5.1.2 that option is buried in Preferences, which you open with Ctrl-Click or pulldown menu in the P2 l&c window).
