Thanks Craig. Yes it is live. I am worried about the one cell connection option although I thought that dropped calls were a thing of the past, this gig is in another city so maybe their towers aren’t as reliable as big city Chicago?
There will be multiple sources going into the switcher. I don’t want to buy any gear, for me this is a one off. But in your experience, is this common for them to demand the video vendor be responsible for the connection? From what I’m learning it’s the connection which is the week link in webcasting, correct?

I think they are small enough for you to swallow before taking off and collecting them later when you check into your hotel?

I have had no problem at all flying domestically. I have been averaging two or three round trips a month. I always have a full camera with me on board, either configured if an ENG or in pieces in a camera bag if it’s the C100 or something similar and I ALWAYS have a full Anton Bauer Gold Mount Dionic with me that powers the large camera for 4 hours or the smaller one for days. No one has every queried me or asked if it was lithium and I am prepared to respond “Nicad” if asked.
The reason I do this: There have been many times when the baggage did not make a transfer or they just plain lost it. Although it would arrive on the next flight or next day, I always have enough gear with me that at least I can do b-roll available light and I have a lav and XLR cable. So I would recommend bringing for the overhead the camera and one or two large batts. Another reason I do not check the camera as baggage is that when the TSA folks take it out to inspect they may not put it back correctly. If the battery is attached to a piece of gear they don’t care since the terminals can’t be shorted. The rules are aimed at checked bags but besides the incident below I have never been questioned.
The only time I was questioned is when I had a large battery in my suitcase and it was on top of a bar of soap, so the X-ray machine saw “wires over plastic explosive” and my name was paged and there were cops around my open suitcase at Heathrow. It seems that flights over the oceans get closer baggage inspection for obvious reasons. I just did a cursory search on cameramen forums and no pro seems to be hassled, although the drone guys have drawn renewed attention to lithiums in checked bags:

Well, it wasn’t just the file names, the text box where you can leave a message for the recipient- everytime I used an apostrophe Hightail changed it to a question mark. That makes me look like an idiot who can not type. I never knew that until I met a client to review a video I sent and when I sat down next to him and he opened the notification I thought WTF?
When I called Hightail and spoke to another incredibly young sounding kid, he said: “Oh yeah, don’t use an apostrophe”. That was not part of a file name, I know enough about that to avoid such, this was in a text sentence. In response to Greg never having “a problem”, this is another example of an issue that the subscriber isn’t even aware of.
So…this week I started to use Vimeo and Dropbox much more, I need to clean them up and look more polished. Besides, if I’m already paying for those two services why add another? As to Walt’s favorite: ScreenLight- I feel that actually encourages the recipient to come up with changes. After all, it’s actually asking the viewer to put in their two cents. Similar to when our videos are “sent to Legal for approval.” Of course they feel the need to add their two cents. When I send a video for approval I hold my breath there will be no changes because I want to invoice the remaining payment, move onto the next project or take the dogs to the park.
P.S. I did notice that when you play a video from DropBox’s server it is not as crisp and smooth as Vimeo, looks like it’s knocked down the kbps rate? I need to research that. If so, I will use it for when the recipient will download and Vimeo for viewing. I do know that no matter what the privacy settings, a video can be ripped from Vimeo. I am about to hire a geek to do such because I shoot for TV shows and never get a copy, so need to rip from Vimeo.
