    Thank you for your suggestions.

    1. I am not sure that I understand what you mean by “the level of the source recording”. Please advise.

    2. I tried the avc-intra route and this also produced an unplayable file. I assume there is experience of rendering to ProRes UHD formats and perhaps the problem lies with my source material. This was acquired with a JVC GY HM170 at the higher record rate of 150 mpbs and is a .mov file.

    Thanks

Thanks for the explanation. I came here from PAL land and assume these odd frame rates are a remnant of some long past requirement. I am a happy user of Vegas Pro 14, but still feel they need to communicate directly with their users rather than on their forum. End of rant.

Thanks to all for the postings

This was not rendering but loading camera clips for an edit. However; some detailed research suggests that although we read 30 fps in our camera manuals and settings we are actually recording at 29.97 and this matches the “template” for UHD in Vegas.

Part 2 of my comments still apply; Magix are terrible communicators when it comes to informing their user base of new builds. See the volume of communication coming from Adobe and Avid.

Yes a “custom” template can be created for UHD but it is 29..97 fps. Are we still creating drop frame shots in Progressive scan?

Thanks for your reply. I discovered that I had ticked “Match Project Settings” with this cleared I had all the alternative formats.

Hmmmm, is anyone actually regularly editing HDV on an iMac using FCE? Is there another forum I should go to find an answer?

Thanks for the suggestion but it also needs a new computer and this route requires a dual G5 at least. Anyone using FCE on an Intel iMac for regular editing of HDV?
