My initial reason for going through all this was to monitor on a HDTV as a larger image instead of watching the video in a 5″ canvas window. I wasn’t even that concerned whether it was being viewed on a professional HD monitor a consumer monitor would of just been fine to me. With this client, I shot green screen and wanted to view it larger to catch errors in the key. But, it seems it’s a little more complicated than first thought.

Yes, you are right regarding the sampling or buzzing so I think I will just stay with the way I have it currently configured until I invest in a Matrox box or something like it.

Well, I tried several methods of connecting HDTV displays to my iMac (which does not have a ThunderBolt connector) so I need to connect to mini-display port. When connecting a external consumer HDTV monitor via HDMI or VGA I was experiencing stuttering or strobing. I have been recommended to connect a Matrox MXO box between the iMac and the external monitor but I don’t have the funds to afford a $1000 device right now. I ultimately connected an Apple Cinema Display and configured my desktop so that my bins are on the Cinema Display and I made the Canvas and Browser larger. If anyone has any other recommendations I am open to suggestions.

If I am having someone create moving graphics or still images for this project should I tell them 960×720? Because that is the aspect ratio for this project?

I read that the Matrox MXO allows you to output through the mini-display port to a DVI connector? Has anyone had any experience with this device connect to an iMac?

Thank you for your input. I still cannot figure out why the video is stuttering on playback through the external monitor. Is it because the video card is not fast enough or maybe not enough RAM?
