    Cheers Joseph,

Sounds logical, I just wanted to be sure and not to cause problem at the online stage.

    Michael,

Thanks for spotting that. There will be a fair bit of graphics, fx and archive in the production so I think you’re right, the best option as you point out, bring it all to 1080p.

    Hi David,

Trashed the prefs, to no effect. No other apps had a problem.

I poked about a bit and found that the apple monitor colour setting was set to ITU-R BT.709-5. Maybe the last editor I had in did that. I changed it back to Cinema Display and FCP went back to normal. So problem solved.

    Thanks for the reply,

    Michael,

Thanks for the clever workaround, no idea why this works but a result is a result.

As you suggested I sub clipped the AMA linked Prores QT, as video only, and transcoded that to AVCintra100, the levels remained same as source, perfect. I then pasted the audio back on from one of my transcode imports (DNxHD 185x) so everything is in AVID media. I’ve just done a short export test as AS-II, with no problems.

Thanks to both of you for the help.

Hi Michael and John, thanks for the reply.

I’ve just tried AMA linking, then consolidating/trans-coding to AVCintra100. But the error I get when exporting with the QT file appeared during trans-coding: ‘Exception: Failed to get the sample size from the AMA Plug-in’ Any thoughts?

    John,

Can I just Import ProRes to MC, (File: Import and select the clip) it’s about 60mins long. I’m reading though manuals at the moment. It seems to be that simple, is it?

Just had a look, it gives a number of choices for he resolution, including AVC Intra MXF, that’s the codec I want to export to. Will selecting that convert my media to AVC Intra?

One part of my question was on exporting AVC Intra to XML to the UK broadcaster specs for file based delivery. I suspect this is going to spread as file based becomes the norm, here in Ireland one broadcaster is adopting this route. I’ve found a link with the MC 7 workflow:

    https://liammhill.com/blog/assisting-avid-quick-tip-12-as-11-file-delivery/

Once you’ve the correct XML file out then you use the free DPP Metadata App to add metadata. The DPP Metadata Application requires shim version 1.1 which is bundled with MC version 7.0.3.

  • Yes, the Sony XD transfer will allow you to export to an MXF file. But it’s limited to working with the XD codec.

    Hi Shane,

    Thanks for the reply.

I’ve downloaded a trial version of Avic MC (fully working).
My online is in FCP7. I’m on a new Mac Pro 6 core, Mavericks. It’s online as ProRes HQ (1920x 1080 HD). I’m very unfamiliar with MC it’s been too long since I used one. What do you suggest as the best way to get it into MC?

I see that in MC you can export using AMA File Export, this produces a MXF file. It automatically selected SHIM AS-11_Shim_1080i50.xml, this sounds right but there’s no mention of the codec (AVC Intra 100). I’m presuming that by default it encodes to AVC Intra 100?

    Hi Bill,

Thanks for the reply, are you using a Buffalo Technologies external usb Blu-ray burner on the new Mac Pro? And did it simply plug and play (meaning read and burn CD/DVD/BR)?
