    Hi Folks,

I used to use FCP7 (in Final Cut Studio 3) and still go to it when an older project cut with it needs to be dusted down and re-cut. So before you say ‘just stop using it’, I have, but having used it for years I’m quick on it and that’s the easiest way to get the job done with minimum fuss on a project that was cut with it.

    The problem:
I opened it the other day, first time in about a year, and now the source and record viewers are magenta, regardless of if there’s media loaded into them or not (i.e. source media or a sequence). The actual media clips themselves are fine, I did a quick export test and the output is fine, I just can’t view it without this magenta overcast inside FCP7. I’m not getting any error messages.
Anyone any idea what this is and how to fix it?

    My System:
Mac Pro (Late 2013 trash can)
    Processor: 3.5 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon E5
    Memory: 16 GB 1866 MHz DDR3 ECC
Graphics: AMD FirePro D500 3072 MB

    Thanks in advance,
    Neal

Are any other apps displaying improperly? If not, try trashing FCP prefs.

    Hi David,

Trashed the prefs, to no effect. No other apps had a problem.

I poked about a bit and found that the apple monitor colour setting was set to ITU-R BT.709-5. Maybe the last editor I had in did that. I changed it back to Cinema Display and FCP went back to normal. So problem solved.

    Thanks for the reply,
    Neal
