One last thing… you’ll also have to change the duration to the correct number of frames. Just search in text for “duration” and then edit the number.

For example, I had a graphic that was set in the project settings to last 4 seconds that I switched from 29.97 (“30”) to 23.98 (“24”) and, because at first I only changed the frame rate and not the duration, when brought into a project in Final Cut (this was a generator), it would have an extra “blank” frames at the end. Once I changed the duration to the correct number of frames (4 sec x 24 = 96) all was good.

  • I’m not sure if this is what you’re looking for, but if you create a shape in Motion, you can free transform it by changing your tool from the arrow (Transform) to Edit Points. You can then individually move each point of the shape, and you can even apply keyframes to animate it.

THANKS for this tip. Amazing. I love that the project can be edited with text.

FYI, in order to change a project from 59.94 to 23.98, I had to change “60” to “24”… first try I put in 23.98 and it showed up as 23.96. Not sure what you would put in if you wanted straight up 24 fps.

I was also able to change the project preset from 720 to 1080 (and then of course had to resize in the project).

  • I’m having this same problem with v 10.1.4. I am trying to get video to move from position A to position B, stay at position B for a few seconds, and then go back to position A. I have two identical keyframes at either end of the part I want the video to be completely still, but I have the weird drift others have noticed. The adding and deleting keyframes has reduced it, but I I can still see the numbers creeping up and back down. Anyone else experiencing this with this workaround? If I was trying to do precise effects work this would be entirely unacceptable.

It seems pretty ridiculous that the software does this between two identical keyframes! (Yes, both set to linear as well.)
