December 23, 2009 at 10:41 pm in reply to: Layer Space Transforms – precomps

    Hey Andy,

Thanks for the reply, but this is not exactly what I need.
I know I can easily use values from any Comp by pick whipping,
What I need is for the MainComp to know where the 3d nulls (within the PreComp) are positioned relative to the camera (within the MainComp) and then determine their 2D positions using layer space transforms (All from within the MainComp)
    Does that make sense?

    Thanks

    -Nathan

December 23, 2009 at 10:28 am in reply to: Getting this to work in 3D space?

Hello, sorry to wake up a VERY old thread, but I am breaking my brain trying to get this to work in a slightly different way.

The 3d Nulls I would like to connect with the BEAM effect are in a precomp with collapse transform turned on.

I cant work out the method to get their 2d position in the main comp for the beam effect.

this is irritating me because I know it should be quite easy, my math brain is just useless at times!

    Any support would be appreciated.

After some reading on c4D cafe and CG society, it would appear that there is NO collision detection in MoDyn2 🙁

October 30, 2009 at 11:56 am in reply to: Camera inertia : CPT inertia vector?

Hey I was hoping you could point me in the direction or give me some pointers for setting up this effect?

I too have a target camera and want the camera to have some lag / inertia as though the camera operator is trying to keep up with the object, rather than being locked onto it solidly,

Any help you might give would be just awesome!

    Thanks

October 27, 2009 at 5:39 pm in reply to: Global Illumination without shadows

I have been struggling with this.

I need my ground plane to receive GI shadows

    BUT

I also need it to be able to composite so that my BG (motion tracked video) shows through.

In your post you suggest that C4D 11.5 rectifies this (silly) limitation… however I have not been able to get it to work…

I have struggled with this for some time and would love some clarity

    Thanks in advanced,

    Nathan

    Problem Solved
and yes it was just a simple setting.
I was using OLX “merge object” to import the CSTools Preset
When I used OLX “mrege document” it worked fine!

    Thanks Anyway!

Still trying to find one / work one out (but i am very new to scripting)

Dan’s method may not do all the work for you, but at least it works. It is a slow workaround when you have a LOT OF LAYERS though.

Its nice to see at least one other person looking for the same script.

Perhaps a scripting genius will consider tackling this one now??
