This is a bit of an ridiculous idea IMO. Why not simply save all your text parameters to an preset and then re-apply it everytime you need it? Or even simpler: Clone the comp once it’s perfect and just change the text string… You know, AE doesn’t give a damn thing what this string is and maintain all animation parameters even if you have a hundred or so text naimators applied. Just a thought.

eLin will expand your colorspace to 32 bpc internally (all eLin plugins work in this mode) for better calculations on gamma values etc. whereas the Cineon Converter will only convert from log to lin color space without adding any fancies.

Use the Wind properties, and not Turbulence or Spin. By keyframing The Wind X and Wind Z you can get a spiraling motion.

Why not just multi-select the layers and change the font face for all of them at once? As long as a keyframe at a given time already exists, AE will even recognize these changes for the source text property. On the other hand it’s really a shame that AE does not offer a way to manipulate those properties via expression *sigh*

Yeah, it’s quite annoying, but I would bet that in AE 7 we would be able to reorganize the entire interface just in the new CS 2 progs.

You could use the Effects window/ palette with view set to folder and sort your plugins (kinda the same like pulling them out of the plugin folder anyways). All other methods like changing plugin names and categories using dubious tools will create more problems than they solve (they confuse AE’s internal use of plugins and you’re likely to not be able to transfer projects to not modified machines).

But doesn’t FCE take care of putting it in a *.mov automatically? So technically it would still use a container format rather than a native stream. Anyway, as long as it works… That’s what I was suggesting anyways.

AE does not yet support it natively, you would have to use a Quicktime container or AVI wrapper to use it inside AE. Hardware specs in this case are not important, since it’s a software only process and you will never have realtime playback unless you do a RAM preview.
