Creeate an expresion slider and use its value as the wiggle intensity.

There are no special settings required, just use the standard HD templates (720×1280 will be enough as most players will initially use this as a prefered format due to bandwidth constraints). To be on the safe side, try to work at 60 fps progressive, you can always derive al other versions from that. I doubt that either of the initial series of software and hardware will use Windows Media (or more properly VC 1). There are too many things still unclear and since Microsoft jumped aboard rather late, it’s not going to be implemented too well, I think. Rely on H.264 or good old MPEG-II and plan with that in mind.

Psunami does not do any interctions. That’s still the domain of “true” simulations in 3D programs.

With QTPro you could export them to “real” clips, but what’s stopping you from just converting your clips in AE? Alternatively consolidate your stuff in Avid and create a mixdown that can be exported as a clip.

Nope, it’s an excellent idea. It will help you to propagate the fact that you understand an app beyond what may be required for a particular job. You see, for a living I do a lot of info-graphics and technical stuff, but I sure would put some of my sparetime concoctions onto my reel as well. Not only are many of them more creative, but also, since there was proper time to put them together, of better quality (as much as it pains me to admit this, but under tight deadlines you sometimes can only “muddle thru”).

Converting the zoom to camera Z-depth will be a tough one since it involves lots of vector transformations that are non-linear, so I’d forget about it, if you don’t know any expressions. I doubt someone wil take the time and cobble up the code for you. Positions can be inverted by multiplying them with -1, tilt can be derived from the arcus tangens (atan) functions. you can find examples for this behavior in my Erath map tutorial where the lines are targeted using this method.

Huh? What would you do with system clock in an expression? Expressions run in the local context of the layer/ property they are applied to and don’t know anything outside of their own little universe. If there was a function to use realworld times, it would be pretty useless, anyway (as rendering a frame usually takes much longer than a clock cycle you’d always end up with useless random garbage). Your only option is to use “time” and its derived functions/ methods.
