My instinct would be to use Boolean objects and animate the “cutter”. One Boolean would cut a hole, the other would match that hole and fill it with your other stuff. I’m not good with cars, though, and my cold is seriously munching my brain ;O).

Another way would be to use two Boolean objects – one cuts a gap in your normal text, the other fills this gap with an identical object, but tinted yellow. The only downside is that you have multiple objects that need to stay in sync (should you animate something), but I find it still more controllable than the spline shader. Lastly, the DiTools suite of plugins has a Spline Projector object, that could achieve something similar.

You need to adjust the spline curve of the effector on the “Effector” tab. Make sure you have a straight line at the top of the diagram, so the effector is always using the maximum value for each clone as it passes thru (which in your case would be 180

No, not with the wiggle expression. I don’t know who, but if you search the archives, someone provided the full code for creating loopable randomness using the noise() function some time last year, I think. If it doesn’t turn up, I will try and fin it in my personal code archive and post it, hoping to do so with the consent of the original creator.

You can leave the wiggle in place and add keyframes. The wiggle will add itself on top of those keyframes. You can of course turn off the wiggle entirely.

[Pixelkarma] “I would like to know how to export depthinfo from c4d and how to make it work with the 3D Chanel > Depth of Field filter.”

Umm, you enable the camera depth parameter just as I said, find suitable ranges, choose RPF as image format and off you go (Z-depth is a default channel, so you don’t even need to activate it explicitly). Not much to it, really. In AE you only need to play with the parameters of the Depth of Field effect once you have applied it. Just make sure it’s the first effect on the layer.

Trapcode Particular is your friend. Alternaitvely use Trapcode Echospace or the Digital Anarchy 3D Assistants in combination with normal 3D layers.

Not sure. Either you don’t have all plugins installed (some of the presets make use of the CC effects, so check that) or some of the expressions used in some of the presets break for whatever reason.
