Check your display settings. Maybe you incidentally upped the transparency of the gizmos or made them so small (band size), they are not visible.

Na, that would look rubbish and it wouldn’t possibly work because the align to spline tag may give you unwanted tilts and flipping even with the rail spline option used. You can use a sweep NURBS for the ribbon and using PLA you can even animate the rail spline, but I’d definitely hand-keyframe the camera to a nice and gentle swing that only loosely follows the ribbon – keep in mind that you want your users to actually see the ribbon, not have them stuck to such a low angle that your ribbon will look like the horizon line.

I’m not really up to speed on what goes on in the Mac world as I so rarely see and use one these days, but you should either use the basic Adobe RGB profile if you have no calibration on your system at all or use one of the footage relavant profiles for standard PAL or NTSC levels if you have calibrated your FCP along ith your video hardware. While it may not entirely eliminate the color shifts, it should give less trouble. If that’s not enough, you can always forcibly make your levels compliant by applying some of the techniques described in Aharon’s video on broadcast safe colors.

Have you tried to use the disks on another computer? Even if they don’t work on a Mac, they may still be readable on a PC. There are some tools out there that may be able to reconstruct your data, but the first thing you should do if you ever can revive your disks is to do a full RAW data read and copy that to a safe location. All otehr operations can then be done on the backup data, not the originals on the disk.

It’s definitely not just one artist and I have to say since he doesn’t state on which parts he actually worked, his reel is pretty useless if one would try to gather any info from it or make up ones mind about the artist himself. Most definitely an even wider variety of tools and programs was involved than you imagine and they all were combined.

Make sure you set your project color space properly. Not having rthe right color profiles in place can be a problem.

No way. Expressions have no access to system info as they run sandboxed. You could try to have a script that gives you the IP of a machine, but it would have to be executed as a post-Render script and for it to work you needed to have another script that renders every single frame as a separate render queue item. If you are really dependent on such info for debugging resons and have a considerable render farm, I strongly suggest you get a render manager like Muster. They do all the logging and can greatly help you there.
