Yes. The normal workflow is Lossless -> compress in any lossy format.

I also hate working with aspect ratio’s but the new ‘pixelratios’ in adobe CS5+ suites will give you black bars left/right, when you compress from a HD file to PAL widescreen. And there is NO way to remove it from Encoder.

You will need to render out a PAL widescreen (720×576 with aspect ratio) out for it to compress fullscreen.
This is propably due too the difference in pixelratios.

  • No. I have this problem to. I had this problem few months ago and I’m having it now again!

    This is really a BUG!
I have a blackmagic and LCD. I will have a check but it really doenst look good, even back in AE!

Especially if you have a EPS that you scale up to 200%, put collapse transformations on, and render that out as a quicktime with fields, you will notice it immediately.

February 8, 2011 at 10:19 pm in reply to: RAM preview NOT REALTIME

I also have a Blackmagic Multibridge and my previews are NOT realtime when set to ‘accurate’. When set to ‘fast preview’ its almost realtime.
Very annoying on a 8core and such an expensive system!

Strangly, first install of the blackmagic and the first run all went realtime! Just after second reboot its not realtime anymore and hasent been since. Tried all settings.

Is this a Adobe issue or Blackmagic?

One sitenote. I still find it strange there isnt a 1080p25 preset on BMD cards. I’m in a 1080p25 sequence in Aftereffects, so what preset do I choose? 1080p50 or 1080i50?

  • This is the most ennoying thing in AE. I still do not understand why Adobe hasnt fixed this! Grrrr.

Are you using MotionTile effect on an image? sometimes it makes an image to big internally and crashes. It helps to reduce it or maybe Render out the motiontile effect to an image.

When I connect the MB pro via usb I can see it in the profiler.
    Multibridge Pro:
    Version: 1.00
    Bus Power (mA): 500
    Speed: Up to 480 Mb/sec
    Manufacturer: Blackmagic Design
    Product ID: 0xbd13
    Vendor ID: 0x04b4

But I cannot see the PCI card in the profiler. Only shows the Nvidia! When I put the 4lane pci card in slot 2, my nvidia doesnt get recognized and I do not have output to my monitor. (Logged in using Remote).

So do i have conflicts? How do I solve them since there arent any jumpers I assume? Or is the 4lane card broke?

    September 11, 2007 at 6:20 am in reply to: 1080p 25 support?

    https://www.blackmagic-design.com/support/detail.asp?techID=107

This is what google gave me in the first hit. 🙂
I’m confused. The BMD tech guy told me it doesnt support it. And now you can do 1080p 25 just by turning of fields (to progressive)?

If you developpers can add this in a heartbeat, I am begging on my knees, please add this ‘little’ feature!!! I dont wanna buy AJA instead of BMD. (They support it).

We just bought a JVC lcd broadcast monitor. https://pro.jvc.com/prof/attributes/features.jsp?model_id=MDL101631&feature_id=01
Here we wanna preview all our 1080p 25 work on.

If someone from BMD is reading this. Please reply or mail me.
    Thanks in advance.

    Regards
    M.
