Alt click (on a mac) the position key stopwatch > hit the Expression Language Menu (little right pointing arrow in a circle) > menu option ‘Property’ > loopOut
That’ll keep your object looping forever without duplicating keyframes all the time.

I think I love you.
How the Dickens have I never realised that before. Thank you – THANK YOU for letting me do something in 25 seconds that I spent all day yesterday stressing over.

Thanks for the tips,
I’m coming to the conclusion that this Foam effect is too unwieldy for what I need. It’s a shame, because the physics of it are quite nice.
I think I’ll render out a small section of bubbles and just duplicate that all over the place 😉
cheers anyway

Hi,
thanks for the reply.I’ve uploaded an example image to describe what I’m doing.
A & B = the objects (pre-comps) which are animated to move through the scene
C = the image of a rope (tried both as a small, image sized pre-comp and a main comp sized pre-comp) I wish to manipulate via the puppet tool.
D = the location of two null objects I’ve set up which have the position of puppet pins linked to them.
When I set up the puppet tool to start, it all works fine, but when I try to link them to the nulls – that’s when the results become unpredictable.
hope this helps to explain.

Thanks again Chris,
I appreciate the effort and time you’re giving me.
Can I just bother you once more though, to do me a favour and explain the connection of that red slider? My goal is to learn why all this is working and that’s the only thing I can’t anlyise. I need to put my entire video through this process and it’s going to be easier if I’m clear what’s going on under the hood. Thanks again,

…However, i’ve hit another stumbling block.
I’m trying to re-create your setup on my footage (as i’m on 5, not 5.5 – so I’ve got your project open in an AE6 demo and am manually copying it across… but then that’s great as I’m understanding it properly as I deconstruct it.)
I can’t get my red channel mask looking like yours …
The only thing I feel I may be missing is the Red Tolerance slider referred to in the expression. I’ve recreated it but can see if it links to anything…
Hope you can spare the time to help again.
Cheers
