You can’t “connect to the other mac book and take advantage of it’s processors” for use in Final Cut Pro X. You can connect to the other Mac using Target Disk mode, which will make the 2nd Mac function like an external drive for your currently-booted Mac. But the MacBook likely has a slow hard drive to begin with (5400 RPM, low cache, etc.). You’re better off getting a high-speed external FW800 Hard drive and connecting it to your booted MacBook for Media storage of Final Cut Po X files.

When you select a clip and press command-c or Edit/Copy to copy the clip you’re simultaneously copying the effects and attributes for the clip as well. Simply select the other clip you’d like to paste the attributes to and then from the Edit menu select Paste Effects, or press command-option-v on your keyboard.

You can also create a Smart Collection from a filter by selecting the event and clicking the search icon in the top-right corner of the Event Library.

The filter HUD appears and you can apply filter options. To filter just sound effects into a Smart Collection click the + icon in the filter HUD and apply a Media Type filter option. Select Is Audio Only for the Media Type filter settings then click the New Smart Collection button.

A new Smart Collection will appear in your event with only audio files in it. Now any additional audio files that you add into your event will automatically appear in this Smart Collection.

The best way to categorize your media is to create keywords during import.

I wasn’t even able to download. When I went to purchase, it interrupted and said my graphics card did not meet the minimum specs and so I could not download.

  • Yeah I can’t believe I didn’t think of it sooner! Thanks though.

  • Bah! I’ve been searching for help on this in these forums and online and as soon as I post a help request one here, I figure it out.

I can’t believe I didn’t think of it but then again, thats how most problems are.

In case anyone has the same issue:
I created my timelines in Premiere by quickly taking my HDSLR footage and dragging it to the ‘New Item‘ icon in the Project tab. This will create a sequence with all the appropriate settings for you footage. Apparently the cameras files have strange audio settings and any audio not from the camera will sound quite poor. For lack of a better explanation, the audio I was adding was ‘too good’.

The fix; I just created an HDSLR sequence using Premieres default settings.

Sorry my friend, but I’m quite sure you can not fix a blur in any program. Especially one that bad. You could commission someone to do a digital illustration over it that would look really good and be almost photo-realistic… but thats about your only option for this one.

Easy to blur, but not the other way around. Far as I know.

I once had an issue where I automated about 500 resize&compress only to find out that none of them changed when it was finished except the first one that i used to record the action with. Turned out that every resize was saving as the first filename that I used to create the action thus every picture just saved over the previous resulting in only one resized picture in the end and all the originals still sitting there.

Worth checking. If that’s what’s happening, try re-creating (recording) the action. I noticed your 2nd to final action was not a save-as as it was in my case since I wanted to save them at a different jpeg compression. But thought it still may be relevant.

I can compare the high-end Quadro I have at work vs using PS CS5 on my home PC which has a high-end gaming card; I don’t really notice a huge difference since having the Open GL on both alone gives you the few extras you’ll need like rotate-canvas and working in what 3D tools PS has. I would say save the dough and go middle of the road… that way if you ever need any of the Adobe video programs you’ll be able to take advantage of the mercury engine.

Although i never worked with much 3D stuff in PS, I don’t think it would take a crazy card to get you the power needed. I think if your running a huge resolution on multiple displays it would help.

I have two screens running at 2048×1152 with 2 views of my Photoshop project (one fit to screen, the other zoomed in) and the 4800 works flawlessly. Never tried that with the lesser card though.
