Is there a clearly documented post flow for AVC-100 through FCP 2 (6.0.1)?

I am ACing a feature starting next week on the HPX -3000 P2. It seems like there might soon be an FCP update for AVC HD native support… but till then, what do we do?
I cannot see the AVC files in our tests on Log and Capture- is there another way to open
    and transcode?

Right now we’re leaning toward shooting in DVCPRO HD codec, 59.94i @ 24PA,
1280×1080. This is a bummer since we have a camera that can capture true 1080p
on AVC and work with the material.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks,

We are experiencing a similar problem with SDX-900 footage shot at 24pa.
I just completed a marathon import session over the weekend, spot checking occasionally.

Now we go back to the footage files and there are maybe a fifth of the clips noted as 29.97 in FCP,
while the rest are 23.98. Quicktime Player says the frame rates of the suspect clips are really 23.98. Cinematools has the pulldown removal button unavailable. If you go through these clips frame by frame there is no sign of interlacing. They appear to be 24p.
It seems to me that FCP has somehow randomly corrupted these clips, flagging them as 29.97.
Why do the other apps disagree on frame rate?

The other strange thing is that the data rates of these clips are 5.7 mb/sec which is normal after Cap/pull down removal of a DVCPRO 50 clip at 24pa (raw 29.97 = 7mb/sec).

One workaround has been to copy the contents of the clip in Quicktime and paste into a new movie, saving self contained and reimporting to FCP. This only worked on about half the clips so far.
Those that it didn’t work for just keep importing as 29.97

What is up with this? If we had dropped frames in our capture… wouldn’t FCP have stopped or segmented upon hitting a dropped frame. I need a solution quickly. Recapturing requires re-renting the DVCpro 50 deck, which we really don’t want to do again.

    FCP 4.5
    QT 6.5.2

    Thanks for input,
