[Walter Soyka] “If Apple had launched with 10.0.3 or 10.0.4, we might all be having a different conversation.”

Truer words were never spoken. 10.0.4 is the version that should have been released first. Imagine how different FCPX would be treated if it had…

Thanks for correcting my typo… yes 50,000… which really is a small amount.

I can see them canceling it… too bad, that’s the size I always buy…

  • [Jules bowman] “Corporations are socially destructive. I believe the current economic malaise is a pretty good indicator that the grand modern capitalism venture is fundamentally flawed.”

If only it were that simple.

What they have managed to conveniently side-step in all these papers, discussions, etc. is the real reason it can’t be done here.

You couldn’t build these factories in America if you wanted to. The environmentalists wouldn’t stand for anything that big or dense, even if it had zero pollution.

And even if you got past that, it would take years to get it through the approval process. City managers would be trying to blackmail Apple for free iPads for all the local school children, like they did in CA over the new campus.

And even if you got past that, during excavation they’d find a bone or an errant snail darter and that would be the end of the project while we do a 7 year environmental impact study.

No, America doesn’t really want jobs… they just want to talk about it…

[Andrew Richards] “If that means losing the bulky optical drive, good riddance. I’d rather have room for more storage or more battery. But I don’t think it is in any way suggestive the MBP line is being killed of. The question named the Air specifically, so Cook answered about the Air specifically.”

My crystal ball is all fogged up, but elsewhere yesterday someone was suggesting that the 17″ was on it’s way out. Apparently it only sold 500K units, which is considered too small for Apple. The 13″ MBP sold the most (over a million)… with the 15″ behind a bit…

[Paul Nordin] “Words that make me cringe and look for a different thread that isn’t an endless circular boring conversation with no new information.”

You seriously couldn’t figure out the new information? Really?

[Andrew Richards] “I think it is unfair to say Apple isn’t listening. They aren’t talking (much), but they insist they are listening.”

I hate beating a dead horse, but one could argue that if they were listening, we’d be able to keyframe the ColorFX. It’s been asked for everywhere since 10.0 and it still isn’t even listed for delivery in 2012…

[Chris Kenny] “You’re stating opinions as facts.”

Hmmm. seems like a little bit of the pot calling the kettle black?

I don’t hate FCPX. What I hate are the fanboys who refuse to admit there are/were any shortcomings.

To Apple’s eternal embarrassment, you still can’t keyframe the damn color correction filter! You don’t need a study to know that this is one of the most basic things in a serious app. It’s been asked for since the first release. If Apple was listening to anybody it would be here by now, wouldn’t it?

[Lance Bachelder] “Sad that when the Adobe guy showed that now when you drop a clip on a new sequence it shows a dialog box almost exactly like FCP7 asking if you want to conform the seq to the media etc. and the crowd went nuts like this was new – kinda reminded of an old Apple NAB presentation.”

Wow, I had the same reaction… thought I was nuts…

[Joseph W. Bourke] “The real explosion happened in 1985, when Apple introduced the LaserWriter printer,”

I think you’ve got the date wrong. I had a LaserWriter with our five Lisa 2’s before the Macintosh came out, which debuted in 1984…
