I have the same problem. Every time I export a short source range I get long audio rendering and gigabytes of .cfa and .pek preview files. Why?!

Some joy and a bit confused after. Original MPG file was 4,1 GB, after no-compression rendering file size is 5,6GB. From where??? Also, if I put original MPG (4,1GB)file to DVD architect, it shows also estimated disc size < 5GB. How is that possible? Had to cut from here and there and render once again to complete the DVD. Any explanations?

I just found the answer! I was in trouble with the same problem, wanted to cut and add markers (for dvd chapters)to my mpg2 camera file and then render it back with no recompression. Everything went the same as described here. Vegas manual tells to match project by media and then Render As with profile with “=” sign. No luck. I then gave up and started rendering with “=” profile, showed 17 minutes. Suddenly a thought came – what is the original material bitrate? Downloaded Bitrate Viewer from https://www.winhoros.de/docs/bitrate-viewer/download.html, it calculated the peak approx. 7990. So I chose Render As – “=” profile, changed Field Order to Progressive (as my original MPG) and Bitrate to Constant 8 000 000 and VOILA! No recompression and 6 minutes instead of 17!!! 😀 Done!
