Hi I tried importing footage into combuistion 4 a while back and it worked fine…. but i Tried to import mjpeg hd the other day and it froze maybe the latest driver doesnt work with combustion …what format are you using?

Blackmagic dont recomend more than 3gigs ram(for stability)What format are you editing in? Also what hard drive setup have you got. Simple effects should be realtime if your only doing dv res. Premiere chokes on any effects if your doing high def. Also you get way better performance if you disable “stop at frame drop” in premiere settings.

Hey just tested to see if there was any difference with the 2k output via dvi connection to lcd. We dont have a 30inch monitor…. but I thought the new drivers might make a 2k image fit on a 24inch dell… I cant get that to work…it must be the sdi connections only.

Hi Leo
We actually havent tried dv out put from prottols yet ….Im pretty sure you can do it….Next time we are on it we’ll give it a go. Hey have you heard if its possible to put a pcie raid card on a 16x graphics slot? -
Hey Leo just looked on your profile that you have a Highpoint Rocket raid SATA 1640 does that plug into your second pcix graphics slot?…if so how does it perform? We were looking at either the sonnet fusion or the caldigit external sata boxes…… but I have never plugged anything into that 2nd slot and was wondering if it worked fine for cards other than graphics. We are currently using the onboard nvida raid.
Hey did another protols test in h264 did 720×400 (30%compression)quicktime half an hour long and its only 500mb. very cool.

Hi Leo
Just did a make movie (not adobe encoder) rener in h264 at 720×400 from hdmpeg project…Couldnt get it to work till I removed the 3rdparty motion blur filter…now it’s rendering fine. I set the compressor setting down to 30% to try to get the file smaller and hat still looks ok. -
Hi Leo
I’ve heard that you can do a firewire out from protools out through through the camera/tv. But havent tested it.(we will so though)What size quicktime(preview) do you generally use. We were told by the guys at musiclab in brisbane that the h264 codec is the way to go,to keep the file sizes down. The tests we have done look terrible in h264…we must be doing something wrong.
thanks

Hi Leo
Yeah we want to get a copy of the vision into protools to do our sound to. We will use premiere to edit the vision with basic sounds. At the moment the only way we can do it is to render a 320 x 240 ultra low res quicktime from our highdef edit…..from premiere using its media encoder. That looks really bad but le wont except mutiple quicktime files…….. Very lame.I guess for protools hd you must be able to have bigger and multiple video files….cause you see them mixing sound out to big plasma screens( in behind the scenes special features).
thanks Miles

Hi Guys
I looked at the tutorial on the cal digit site it looked like the windows version only supported stripe configuration. Anyone else see that? Yeah i was hopeing that the pxie card will be able to plug into the second graphics slot on the a8n32 ….have you ever seen this done? -
Hey Bob how does the cal digit compare to the sonnet fusion 500?(i think that was the model you mentioned a while back) That was the ones we were thing of going with in raid 0. And it looked cool cause you could built it with your own sata drives.
Hey we were comfortably working with 8bit hd(prempro2)with our motherboards(a8n32)onboard raid(4x seagate 300gb satas)….it didnt like 10bit hd much …but know we are loveing the new 8bit hd mjpeg format its just like editing dv and looks great up on the dell.
merry christmas !!!
