1. Export Fcp xml
2. Clipfinder (free) – load clips from fcp xml
3. Clipfinder – replace mov with R3d
4. Clipfinder – select clips and Cmnd-C
5. Finder – create new folder – Cmnd-VVoila – you have all needed rdm folders inside one folder
6. Clipfinder – conform on Fcp xml – point to new folder – will save new xml
7. Load new xml into fcp – export edl
8. Load edl into davinciCaution – never regenerate proxie qts with clipfinder – this replaces edgecode with timecode.

I usually create different version on right click and scale this clip independently. No batch unlink. Another way I use when I have long multicut clip with changing exposure along it – on every chunk of the clip I press F2 on the wave setting keyframe. After this I can scale or grade them independently.

Choose first event which is in both edls, look at the timecodes and compare to old one. Also check corresponding media for timecode. It will help to figure out what\’s wrong.

January 21, 2011 at 8:32 pm in reply to: Aliasing on thin horizontal lines from R3Ds, with FullresPremiumI have Pioneer plasma (about 3 years old 42 inch 720p) and sdi crt from Barco. Those artefacts extremely visible on plasma when PAL letterboxed image is zoomed to fit the screen and is very subtle on CRT monitor, but yet visible. For now I’ve decided just to apply deflicker filter at FCP which seems enough at minimum setting and which is actually simple vertical blur. But the whole picture quality degrades noticeably after deflicker (DOP was angry), and for the future projects I need to investigate method to scale down renders with no focus loss.

January 20, 2011 at 6:06 pm in reply to: 2 GPU (285) – will the render be faster or only stereo renderHi Daniel – I’ve build this system – https://nofilmschool.com/build-a-hackintosh/ (with exeption of nvidia 480 – I’ve bought EVGA pc version, but actually it doesn’t matter – it could be zotac, pny, pov or anything else)
but with i7 it’s slower than 2 x xeon mac pro systems. I’m looking forward when 2 procs hackintosh systems will be available. The main reason going hackintosh way actually was bad apple service at russia – when my mac pro system board got dead (warranty was on) – it took 45 days to replace – so I prefer systems which let me replace anything in 2 hours.
Next step will be putting second 480 card – Gigabyte UD5 motherboard allows it. I will report the results.
