  • I found the problem. It’s related to the KVM switch. I have an old Logickeyboard Vegas Pro keyboard that is PS2. It connects up to my Iogear Miniview Pro KVM. When I disconnect the Logickeyboard and just use a regular USB keyboard connected to the KVM, the problem goes away.

  • I’m still having issues with Windows 10 and DVDA Pro 5.2 and 6.0. I can render the DVDs fine but when I try to burn them, the program randomly locks up. I do have another program that can burn the rendered DVD and it works fine with my Pioneer DVD burner. I also have a second computer loaded with DVDA Pro 6.0 with a Pioneer DVD burner and it also randomly locks up during burning.

This random lockups never happened with Windows 7.

  • I also tried loading DVDA Pro 6.0 on another machine with same results. I then tried loading DVDA Pro 5.2 and it also locks up during the burning phase.

Any ideas on why this is happening?

  • I am interested in using one of your techniques but I don’t have much experience using either. If I have multiple clips and I need to have the size of the oval vary due to player size, so I be using the track motion or pan/crop?

For example, I may have 50 clips and I will be copying the combo event in the same video track overlay. Each combo event may need a slightly different oval size due to zooming of the raw video. Once I set the size of the oval for a specific combo event, which technique should I be using and how do I “animate” the movement of the oval for the short interval to highlight the player?

  • For now, since I need to get a job done, I will go with the copy and paste method and just use the keyframe to do the tracking.

Once I complete that job, I will experiment with your suggestion.

In the past, when I used either the pan and crop or the track motion, it was applied across the entire track. That was a long time ago so I might be mistaken. With your suggested method, can I do either of your two suggested methods for each individual clip while still keeping just two tracks, one for the highlight events and one for the media clips?

Lastly, am I able to save the combined event so that I can easily access it when opening a new project or do I have to manually insert the two saved presets the first time for a new project, then do the copy and paste method?

  • Graham,

Are your two saved Presets ever saved together as an event or whenever I need to use them, I have to insert them one at a time?

I just found out I once I create one combined event, I can copy and paste it and just re-do the keyframe for tracking. That has saved me a lot of steps to keep on recreating the event.

I’m just trying to automate as much as I can to save keystrokes since it is so repetitive the “old” way I was doing it. My cut and paste method works if I continue to use the Cookie Cutter keyframe but I do want to explore your method if it will save me time in the long run.

  • I will try using the P/C or Track Motion. Now, how do I go about saving the GM and FX as a single preset? For the GM, I need to have it set to Solid Color and a Transparency of 0.4. For the Cookie Cutter, I have one set for Oval Side as the Shape and Cut Away All But Section as the Method. I just need to combine the GM and FX as a preset.

  • Hi Graham,

I use keyframing to animate the oval cookie cutter. I normally make it for about 1/2 second to 1 second in length and use the Center and Animate to get to the keyframing section and to highlight each clip as an overlay on top of the clip.

The movement of the oval is customized for each clip but the insertion of the Solid Color and Cookie Cutter hopefully can be made into a preset.

  • I am using the solid color on top of the video and setting the transparency to .4. I then use the cookie cutter to create an oval to highlight the soccer player. I then use the animate to move the oval to highlight the player for a short interval.

I would just like to automate the insertion part of doing the solid color and cookie cutter together. The rest of the key frame animate would be customized for each clip.
