Encore 3 is almost identical to 2. 3 does seem to take muxed mpeg files without wanting to transcode the video again.

Directly below Audio Preview files should be Media Cache.

Forget all you know about DVD authoring in Pro…You will need to learn Encore.
There are not that many new features that will take any time to learn other than Time Remapping.
There is a bunch of little improvements…my favorite is that the waveform in the timeline updates!! -

The one timeline is much simpler than Pro. You cant change the height of a clip, you cant twiddle up the track so the opacity and volume rubber bands are hidden. There is no eyeball or speaker icons to temporarily turn off the track, although you can disable a clip. There are no in/out points to set either in the one monitor window or the timeline. The timeline is gravity fed to the left…changing one in point of any clip causes the timelime to “auto ripple delete” the blank space.
DVD authoring with Dolby is OK. The Titler is just OK.With a good codec pack (ffdshow) installed it will import more formats. I just used Elements to create a DVD that was shot (video) in Hawaii on a still camera! Premiere Pro turned up its nose at the files (on the same PC).

So you want 168 pics to play in 5 seconds? Set your Still Duration Preference to 1 frame.

If your target is the web or PC monitor, stick with editing and output in Camtasia.
If your target is DVD for TV…this is a real challenge to keep text clear. If your Camtasia capture area is larger than 640×480, that resolution will need to be reduced to fit on a TV. Even 640×480 is too large due to the surround cropping 5-10% of your video. That reduction does 2 nasty things…it makes small text even smaller and coupled with several generations of compression between there and the DVD makes things a bit fuzzy. -

I totally agree, but that does not mean that the Premiere stuff is poor…it is just that “As it turns out” Deke McClelland is the consummate Photoshop expert and very entertaining to boot.
