Not qualified to diagnose that, but I cannot duplicate your concern. I opened a DV.avi file in QT Pro, View=half size and then exported it as DV.mov and imported the resulting file into Premiere…all is well at 720×480.

When you finish editing a sequence, hit the Enter key to render preview files for the sequence, then start the deck recording and play the timeline out to tape.

Do not judge quality issues in Premiere’s monitor window. Only an external monitor can display fields correctly.

Not sure what you mean by “crash”, you can export your final sequence back to DV tape once the sequence is rendered. It happens in real time.
