I started breaking down the sequence-copying it into a new one in pieces and exporting until, i found what must be a corrupt piece of media-caused by a speed effect?- whatever the case, the one video clip in my 45 min sequence prompted the audio error message.

    Thanks.

My client has media on (2)

WD My Book Studio Edition II-2TB external drives

I’d like to work straight from them if possible via eSata.

I found this in the manual.

    309 SERVO/AV REFERENCE
SEL Select the servo reference signal.
AUTO1: During recording, the input video signal is used as the servo reference
signal. During playback, the signal selected by F2 (REF VID) in function menu
page P03: VID PROC is used as the servo reference signal. If the signal
selected by the F2 (REF VID) in function menu page P03: VID PROC is not
connected, an internal reference signal is used.
AUTO2: When F2 (REF VID) in function menu page P03: VID PROC is set to
“REF”, and any of F2 (INS TC), F3 (INS CUE), and F5 (ASSEMBLE) to F10
(INS A4) in function menu page P07: E.PRESET is lit, the reference signal for
video/audio signal processing is locked to the input video signal.
EXT: The servo reference signal is forced to be “EXT” (an external reference video
    input signal is used).

i saw a post by the infamous Bob Zelin saying to switch menu option 309 from auto 1 to auto 2, on a 2000 series deck, i did it to my hdw-1800 deck and what do you know…problem appears to be remedied. Thanks Bob wherever you are.

Does anyone know what that menu option does or have any ideas of anything else that could trigger that problem?

    Best,
