This from the read me in the Decklink 5.9 installer: “Currently all DeckLink standard definition cards are limited to 3 GB of memory, however this will be updated in a forthcoming software update.” It’s weird because I never had a problem on my G5 system with 4GB of RAM.

Yes it’s limited to 3GB. Since the MacPros require matched pairs of RAM your limited to two 1GB sticks. (I’m not sure if you can get 512MB sticks for MacPro)

    THANK-YOU THANK-YOU THANK-YOU.
I’ve been pulling my hair out for the past month since “upgrading” to a MacPro.
So for your solution seems to have eliminated my memory related crashes.

I had the same problem on my Mac Pro. I moved the DeclLink card from PCIe slot3 to PCIe slot 4 and the problem went away. BM mentions on their system requirements page that you try this if you have problems, but doesn’t specify that the card MUST be in slot 4. ?. Whatever works eh.

Hurray! It worked. It also fixed a weird crash problem I was having with Batch Monitor. Thank you.

Tried a different admin level user on each machine & am experiencing the same problem.

  • I’ve been experiencing the exact same problem. I capturing from BetaSP into FCP 5.0.4, BlackMagic Decklink Extreme card & Quad G5. I’ve only noticed it capturing footage that was originally shot 24fps. I work mainly with automotive running footage that i get directly from the manufacters. It’s next to impossible to get any technical info about the tapes from them. The unusual thing it that some tapes will have the problem and some won’t.
