As long as you have “automatically create RMDs” enabled in RedcineX, they are created whenever you change something in RedcineX and placed within the same .RDC folder that the media files (the R3D files) live in. RMD files represent settings on only one R3D file, which is why they are named the same as the R3D and placed within the same RDC folder. The Redcine X project file is only relevant to Redcine X, allowing you to re-open a project with the same settings, bins, and timelines.

This might be a rather involved workaround, but one way I can think of to do this would be to edit the EDL to swap the clip names with the tape name, assuming the tape name is the original file name. So you would then have an EDL that has the locator (the VFX name) as the tape name and the original file name in the comment line. You can then conform using the conform option that specifies the comment line for the tape name. When you go to render, you would then select “use custom name prefix” and put in “%T” . That will force use of the EDL tape name as the file name, which in your case would be the locator name you want. You can then specify how many places to pad the number field. In theory, this could get you want you want, but it will require either hand editing of the EDL or writing a script to swap the locator and file names. If you try this, let me know if it works.

The only way that should happen is if you’ve made changes on the shot level in the Color timeline. Those settings override the global/project setting. So if you’ve changed those, all bets are off.

It IS clickable, it just doesn’t give you visual feedback. Try changing the gamma (i.e., if it’s currently RedlogFilm, change it to Redgamma3), clicking the “apply changes to all selected,” and go back to the color timeline. You should see all of the shots update within a second or two.

Did you click on “apply changes to all selected clips” (the button on the left at the bottom right of the window} after making the changes? You should also deselect “apply metadata curves” unless there’s an original correction that’s using the same settings as you (i.e., colorspace and gamma).

As I think I mentioned in a RedUser post, this is not really a “Resolve conform issue.” It is an issue largely caused by the use of a Final Cut EDL that doesn’t have an exact match to the R3D source file name at any point in the EDL. The tape names don’t have an underscore, and all of the “source clip names” have a hyphen and version number, as well as a .mov extension. The guys who write Resolve’s conforming routines are smart, but they can’t anticipate everything that comes across that isn’t what it needs to be. The EDL should be edited so that at least one criteria meets the conforming program’s expectation, and the conforming program needs to be set up to properly interpret that. Then the conform will work. Editing the tape names in the EDL to include an underscore, then creating a proper parsing string in Resolve’s extract from path name option will do that.

And yes, the smaller independent projects are always a lot more trouble than the larger, more “professionally” done ones….
