    Hi guys,

I’m a Resolve Linux user in China. I’m not sure if you have the same problem as I do by grading r3d files. As I known, Red have not release Red Rocket driver for Linux yet, So the firmware and drivers for Red Rocket card for Resolve Linux must be written by BMD.

The problem is when I loading r3d files into Resolve Linux, by working after about an hour, Resolve Linux seems really slow that I cant even move the mouse. The problem occurs after reboot. And need to be power off after one night to act normal. It looks like the memory has been totally used and cant release.

After I transcode the r3d files to dpx sequence, Resolve Linux works normal.

So my question is any Resolve Linux user have the same problem when working on r3d files? I’m not sure if it is the Red Rocket card is dead or just the driver for Red Rocket is not good? By the way, I’m using the latest version of Red Rocket’ firmware.

There has been a Linux driver for the Red Rocket for at least the last 4 years. It is used by Filmlight, Autodesk, and Blackmagic .

    Thanks for the reply Mike.

So what do you think might be the problem for me. Might be the hardware issue?

    same problem here too.

had written to the BMsupport they asked me to check if the red rocket is working fine on a mac machine and after few days of test i think had come to conclusion that the issue is with resolve.

Your issue should be fixed by downgrading the driver back to 1.4.25 and firmware to 1.1.16.5.

You can get this driver and firmware from DaVinci Resolve 9.0.4 under the Archive Driver section of the DaVinci Resolve Linux download page here :
