    A few years late but I came across this problem a couple of times. Just today it happened on a text layer. It didn’t have any effects and it wasn’t parented to anything. It did have a simple scale animation. 2 keyframes. That prevented the pen from working. As soon as i removed that, the pen worked fine. Very strange. AE 2020.

    Ok nevermind. I had to click draw backfaces in Element. Problem solved!

    Ok after looking at the model again, what’s happening is that the model doesn’t cover up all of the innards. Basically I have a revolver hand gun model and I can see through the crack in the hole where the hammer is. So the model doesn’t go all the way down to cover up that hole further.

    I imagine that the Original Post in this thread also had the same issue. The container probably just used a flat plane on each end so it wasn’t really meant to look inside of it in Element unless you reverse the normals in Element.

    Why is it that Element can only see one side? Is there any way for element to see both sides of a UV texturemap?

    I’m having this issue inside Element 3D also. All my normals are facing the right direction in C4D. Any ideas on how to get them visible in Element?

  • Did you have to restart your computer? Because I just updated CC 2014 and it’s still doing it. I tried “B” option of hitting backspace and all that does is make the name come back after hitting enter. I can’t edit the name unless I’m retyping the name. I would restart my computer now but it takes ages to restart and thought I’d ask first. Thanks. Also one other but I noticed is that when I “save as” the project, it won’t let me edit the name and erase the name. It seems these bugs are related. I would either have to retype the file or select a previous file name and then edit it.

    I know this thread is old but I wanted to know which version of After Effects the latest plugin is compatible with. I know they haven’t updated the plugin in years but to this day I don’t know any other codec that can compress animations better than Sheer with such a small file size. Better than ProRes by a long shot. Their Mac version is not longer compatible with new Macs so I’m trying it on the PC side.

    Call me crazy but the new code you posted looks the same as the old one.

    original post:
    on=100;
    off=0;
    x=wiggle(10,50);
    r=random(9);
    if (time<5+(r*.1)){
    if (x>50) on else off}
    else on

    new code:
    if (time<5+(r*.1))

    Wow I must of been in a time crunch when I asked for your help and prob just jimmy rigged the effect the long way. Coincidentally I’m faced with this problem again and found my original post. I tried your script and it seems to give me an error. By the way I wanted the individual letters to blink and then stay on. So they go from 0 opacity and blink to 100 opacity. Kind of like a florescent bulb.

    After Effects warning: an expression was disabled as a result of an error.

    Error at line 5 in property ‘Opacity’ of layer 1

    Can anyone help with this? Thanks

    The pre-render is abysmal in AE 2015. Sometimes I will hit pre-render, wait a while and hit it again and it won’t play what’s already been buffered. So I have to do it again and only then will it play. It’s absolutely terrible what they’ve done to AE. I simply won’t use it. I get the fact that there are new features with this version of AE but they messed with things that didn’t need fixing.

    Can you tell me if there is a setting that can disable the auto update in the view port? I don’t need to see the video pre-rendering. I just want to hit “0” and see the bar in the timeline grow and hit “0” again to watch it. But the audio updating with the video is highly annoying. Also where can I re-download AE CC 2014?
