TO the best of my (somewhat limited) knowledge, DnxHD still doesn’t do alpha channels.
If I need this feature from AE, I render it out as a PNG image sequence and then bring that into Vegas using the Import Image Sequence feature. Works like a charm for me. -
John, what Norman is telling you to do is correct.
You’re getting confused between HD video and SD video.
I shoot 1440 x 1080 @60i. It’s the same as 1920 x 1080 @60i but with a different PAR – Pixel Aspect Ratio – 1.333 vs. 1.000.
When I want to make widescreen DVDs, I use the same render setting Norman suggested and it works as expected (i.e. I get a widescreen DVD). -

Add the desired number of videos to the main DVDA screen.
Double click on the first one.
Now is when you click the End Action tab.
Make sure Command is set to Link and that Destination is set the video you just double clicked.
Repeat for all other videos.
Each one will now loop once you press it until you go back to the menu. -

You’re welcome Mark. If you don’t need all the tools that Vegas Pro has, buying one of the many different versions of Movie Studio is a cheaper option than a new version of Vegas Pro, even with the introductory Pro 13 upgrade price.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but you do need a newer version of Vegas. I’ve run into this problem too. Pro 8 will not open mp4 or mov files while Pro 10 will.

Anand, I’m glad that my suggestion worked for you. It’s well know within the Vegas community (and Apple too for that matter) that newer versions of QuickTime have a very bad habit of breaking compatibility.

The latest version of QuickTime is not necessarily the best choice. I found a BMPCC file on the web and was able to play it in Pro 10 with no problems using QT player 7.6.8
I recommend uninstalling your current version and installing an older one.

One of the main reasons for going with an “industry standard” NLE is if you need to interchange projects with other editors on a regular basis. If that’s the case, then go ahead and make the switch. I deal with Premiere, FCP and Avid users periodically and never have any issues exchanging projects with them. Pick a common format and stick to it.
If you have to deliver material for broadcast, there are several users (me included) on here and other Vegas forums who deliver product using Vegas.
The final decision is yours to make. Just make sure that you go into it with both eyes wide open.
