I use Vegas Pro but I’m pretty sure Platinum has the volume envelope feature. Click the audio track to highlight it and press the v key. This will show a thin blue line that you double click to add points to, two at the beginning and two at the end of the desired section. Once the points are there, place your cursor on the line between points 2 and 3 and drag it down to the desired level. You can also right click on a specific point and enter in the desired level.

Try VLC or Media Player Classic. Both are free and can play DVD files.

Steve, open the script using Notepad.
Go the the line that reads var twoSecondGap : Timecode = new Timecode(“00:00:02.00”); and change the 02.00 to whatever value you want. Save it and drop it in your script folder. -
Steve, JR wrote a script a few years ago that was designed to insert a 2 second gap for audio CDs. I’m sure it could easily be modified.

Think of Pan/Crop as being a camera, i.e. zooming in (making the image bigger) or zooming out (making the image smaller) on the screen.
“Right now, I’m trying to move a video image off to one side, and crop the edges.”
Use Pan/Crop to crop and then Track Motion to move it to the desired location.
“I also noticed that sometimes the handles (and dotted lines) disappear from view and the position panel is grayed out. The only way to get them back is either to delete the clip and start again with a new pan/crop FX, or to keep undoing what I did until the position handles are back in view. (Is there any way of managing this directly, in the View menu perhaps?)”
Use your mouse wheel to zoom out on everything or enter a very low value in the Zoom (%) box option under Workspace. FYI, it only goes down to 12.5 %.

Hi Ralph. I had some issues with my account but with the help of the good folks her on the Cow it was resolved.
I’ve been crazy busy at work lately which is why I haven’t been here too much lately. Things are finally slowing down though 🙂 -
Debbie, I’m not familiar with that book but Jay Rose is well respected so anything by him will be good.
Another book that I’ve heard great things about is Dialogue Editing for Motion Pictures: A Guide to the Invisible Art by John Purcell. It was just published last year so it’s very current.
