How do I crop an image/clip AND also adjust its position (pan) simultaneously?
Hi, I’m afraid I find the pan/crop tool cumbersome and counter-intuitive to use. One has to INCREASE the frame handles in order to DECREASE the size of the image, for instance.
Right now, I’m trying to move a video image off to one side, and crop the edges.
I discovered that I can crop images if I deselect “stretch to fill frame” otherwise the image gets cropped instead. I can’t find a way to do both (to pan the image by reducing it in size and move it sideways; and also crop the image).
I notice that the pan/crop FX appears in the chain bar – but pan/crop isn’t listed as a video FX, so I can’t add two pan/crop effects (one to pan, the other to crop).
I also noticed that sometimes the handles (and dotted lines) disappear from view and the position panel is grayed out. The only way to get them back is either to delete the clip and start again with a new pan/crop FX, or to keep undoing what I did until the position handles are back in view. (Is there any way of managing this directly, in the View menu perhaps?)
Please could you explain how to pan AND crop at the same time. It seems such a common effect and I’m probably overlooking something very obvious.
Many thanks in advance!
